Honestly, any cheap double reed you can find at Walmart. It really doesn’t matter much, he is probably going to blow the soundboard out by New Year’s Eve anyway.
Just stay away from open water/high baller calls unless you don’t like the people on the next block over.

He's got a pond way off from the house to practice on. I realize this would be like getting him a drum set. But hey, its outdoors.

Do yourself a favor and get a sure shot yentzen one2.... I am by no means a competition caller but collect/use many calls of varying price ranges. I find this to be the best/easiest/most realistic call I have

Thanks for the replies. Bought the Haydel Dr-85, Duck Commander whistle and actually found my old Duck Commander Cut-Down.
