And 1 full size.
...added model year...all v-6 engines.
1.2016 GMC Canyon. Most comfortable, nicest interior best of the bunch.
2.2015 Chevy Colorado. More style, not quite as plush, engine seemed to have more pep.
3. 2016 Nissan Frontier. Had best engine imo,low-to- no tech. Decent ride.
4. 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Least comfortable, meh.
Drove a 2015 Sierra as well just to compare.
Mid sized just felt more agile and easier to handle than the big boy. Plenty of engine in all of them. I would not want to sit in the back for a super long road trip, but we rarely have passengers. Enough towing to handle my current and next boat.
There are 0 incentives on the gmc/chevy I could get the same thing for less in a full size. But damn I don't want a full size. Frick.

What is the reason for not wanting a full size? Just curious?

how do the bed sizes compare to each other and to the full size?
Posted on 9/27/15 at 8:58 am to GeauxTime9
Easier to maneuver, 2 or 3 mpg better mileage

Bed is 5'6"Or 6' long. 6 " more narrow than full size.

As you mentioned, the problem with midsized trucks is the full sized prices

What kind of boat do you currently tow and what will you tow in the future?

I rented a 4WD Frontier a few months back for little Sub an I to go look at Pikes Peak.
Very impresed- I think it's what a mid-sized should be.

I would love to have a z71 canyon. But like you said, I could get a full size cheaper.

2015 or 2016?

I currently have a Frontier and will be getting a full size within the next month. I originally went with the mid size because I liked the size and like you said, they seemed easier to maneuver than the fulls.
That being said, I test drove a 2015 Silverado this past week and there is no comparison in ride quality- the full size is a much more comfortable ride.
Granted, the cost of going to a full size can easily be twice that of a midsize depending on features.
I like the new Canyon/Colorado's though! Sharp looking trucks

Same price as a full size ? Full size Dodge I test drove were from $34-42000. Seems some dealers are really dealing on the 15 but some are not. The 34-39000 were like club cab not crew cab and they had bench with a fold down console. Ride was great in them and the six was plenty of power.
I was going to test drive a canyon but if they are the same I don't know??
How much were the trucks and what deals were on them if any?

I can get a Tacoma 4x4 ext cab new for 30k or a new f150 4x4 ext cab for 38k. So there goes the price theory.

Most of the dealers I have seen have rows of Silverado's vs. only a couple Colorado's (The same can probably be said of the Sierra/Canyons)
Sticker on a 2wd CC Colorado is right over $30k and given the lack of stock, you may not get them to budge off that price much.
Silverado's have about $5k in rebates and they're pushing to sell the 2015's as the 2016's are about to start hitting the lot. . . prices seem to be ranging from low $30k's to upper $40k's depending on trim

You can get an f150 4x4 for a lot less than 38k

That 2016 Tacoma is supposed to have some sweet new engine from what I've heard. More power and greater fuel economy. I know they always say that but my mechanic was really talking it up.

I just bought a crew cab ram pretty much fully loaded for $38k. Hemi with the 8 speed. Only options it doesn't have are 4wd, air suspension, ram box, and sunroof...got everything else.

It is not a "new" engine, so don't expect problems. It is the same tech used in the Lexus V6 engines. Tried and true.

Gotta keep it apples to apples. I paid $29k for 2013 Dbl Cab Tacoma 4×4 with only other option being V6. Also paid $33,500 for 2015 Dbl Cab Tundra 4x4 with only other option being 5.7L V8.
