Should my dog be getting both an annual dhpp AND a parvo booster at the same time, and then again getting a parvo booster in 6 months? Doesn't the DHPP include the parvo vaccine?

No. It will end up with autism.

Vets don't make much money on vaccines. They aren't trying to "get" you.

ETA- seems like something you should ask the doctor.

My vet gives them both once a year.

When I had dogs, I'd get all the vaccines from the local feed store. Rabies, Parvo and the multiple vaccine for other diseases and give my dogs their shots once a year.

Now that I can't buy the Rabies vaccine and only have a cat, we do the SPCA yearly vaccine at the local fire station and I pick up the Feline Leukemia shot from the feed store and do that one the same day.

Every 3 years at adult stage. Or you can titer test to see their immunity levels and decide if it’s beneficial or not.

We've got to board them from time-

My main question is that if the DHPP is indeed an annual parvo vaccination, why do i need a separate parvo booster vaccination twice per year?

Yeah, if you have to board them in my area it is pretty much a requirement that the animals be up to date on their shots AND they be administered by a licensed vet. At least that was how it was the last time I needed to board a dog for a few days, but that was many years ago.

However, I doubt they've relaxed any requirements and likely upped the ante.

This. More is not better. Vets that haven't adopted the AVMA / AAHA recommendations will admit they push annual vaccinations to ensure owners bring their dogs in for a visit each year. Vets should push annual checkups, not annual shots...
