Does anyone think Louisiana will ever be a constitutional carry state?

I hope so,but I have my doubts. The state probably makes a good bit off of permits.

Would love to see it happen...
this sort of Constitutional legislation is spreading like wildfire across the U.S. and it would look bad for the sportsman's paradise not to do the same...

I believe we're even going to be able to buy suppressors without all the NFA bullshite.

Not as long as Edwards is gov.

Not as long as you have a Democratic Gov.
Phil Bryant of Mississippi walked into his office, pulled out his concealed Glock 19, set it on his desk next to his Bible and signed Mississippi's constitutional carry law into effect. Like a boss

There was a Republican governor of Louisiana for 8 years before Edwards took office. Your point is nil.

Louisiana’s governor signed legislation on Wednesday making it a crime to publish the personal information of concealed handgun permit holders following a wave of outrage by gun owners after a New York newspaper listed such data last year.
The measure was one of seven gun bills Republican Governor Bobby Jindal signed on Wednesday, including a bill creating a lifetime concealed handgun permit

The more sweeping of the two gun rights measures will allow people with concealed handgun permits to carry their weapons into restaurants that serve alcohol, but make most of their money from food sales.
The soon-to-be law also gives current and retired law enforcement officers as well as district attorneys and judges even more flexibility than the general public when it comes to concealed weapons. Those in law enforcement would be allowed to carry guns into bars, though they also couldn't drink while carrying a weapon.

He also signed a law allowing holders of concealed-weapons permits to carry guns into houses of worship

I agree that it won't happen with a democratic governor. But I see it happening within 10 years. It's been happening all over the country each year.

When you get closer to your 21st birthday, call me. I'll enroll you for free (call it a birthday present).
Then you'll actually know a little bit about the class, and you might have an idea about how many people take it on a pro bono basis. (Even the ones who pay are charged 1/2 of what other classes charge).
Until then, I really enjoy your posts.

I know someone that charges 85 for a CCW class...
All that aside...
I'm a certified hunter Ed instructor and gladly teach it for free.I guess it all depends what someone's idea of what promoting safe shooting skills or constitutional rights is all about

I hope so.
Conceal Carry Classes should be available but not mandatory.

I am one of those and can assure everyone it's not about the money.

It should be mandatory no matter what. I am an avid shooter who grew up around firearms and even I learned A LOT from the course. I think a lot of people would benefit from taking the class. It should be like the boaters safety. Take a test and pass, you get a card. That easy.
Instead we have a wonderful LSP concealed carry division who takes 8 months to review an application. I can have an entire house built in the time it takes to get a concealed carry license in this state. It is ridiculous.

Disagree 100%
You should not be required to take a class to invoke your constitutional right.
And I'm glad you got something out of the class, but just because you liked the class doesn't mean everyone should be required to take it.
One of the main problem a mandatory class does is lessen the number of people carrying.

Absolutely not. It pisses me off that I have to get the damn permit in the first place.
ETA: The "class" I took was an absolute joke. They wasted time discussing the history of gun powder and other useless firearm trivia. They gave conflicting answers on legal questions (there were two instructors), and the shooting qualification may as well have not happened. Even the morons who couldn't hit a man sized target at 5 yards were allowed to retry. They should have failed on the spot if the "qualification" actually meant a damn thing.

There are a lot of people out there who should not carry a firearm. Just because you bought the gun and think you're billy bad arse doesn't make me feel any better knowing that you don't know the laws regarding using deadly force.
For example, a friend of mine who has ZERO knowledge of firearms bought a pistol when he moved to NOLA for home protection. He was showing it to me one day and had one in the chamber. He couldn't figure out how to drop the mag so he was struggling to press the mag release with his finger on the trigger while pointing it all over the place. He's a smart guy but just didn't know or respect the gun. Now do I want him to be able to stuff that gat in his waistband and go down to Walgreen's? No.
It's the same thing with a license to drive a vehicle. Just because you bought a car doesn't mean you can go drive it without proving that you know the laws and regulations. So you take a test and get a license.
I understand it is your constitutional right to carry, and I guess it's really no different than open carry. I guess I would just like to know if somebody has a gun I don't know about that they at least know how and when to use it.
