There are plenty of people that have went through those classes that still don't handle safely.
And aren't those classes more about concealed carry laws...not teaching how to use a firearm.

Also, I don't see the reason to force someone to sit through a course on deadly force....taught by someone with zero background in use of deadly force.

Sorry, but no. Our inalienable rights are not contingent upon your peace of mind.
I agree in principle with the point you're making, but that doesn't mean we should have government mandates.

You are right, and back to my example about driving a car. There are a lot of people who shouldn't be behind the wheel of a car and have a drivers license. I'm not saying it's going to help everyone, but the classes would help a lot of people.

In my class we went over parts of firearms and how to work the mechanics. Then we spent a good bit of time at the range because there were some people who needed a little help.
Another example from my class. A woman had a semi auto pistol that she couldn't even rack the slide. So after working with her a little my instructor gave her a revolver to shoot. She was able to do well with it when she left, and because of that she now knows that she can't carry a semi auto. If not for that she could be walking around with a gun she can't even load in her purse which would be useless.

I think you guys need to find better instructors.

Where in the Constitution are you given the right to drive a car? Apples to oranges
Your class....but not every class is necessarily your class.
And why didn't this great instructor teach the female the proper way to rack the slide instead of giving her false info that she can't use a semi-auto.

Fair enough.

She physically could not do it. She didn't have the hand strength to hold a grip on the slide.

He didn't tell her she couldn't use a semi. He recommended she use a revolver which was easier for her.

He didn't teach her correctly then. There is a different technique used for people with a weak grip.

My point is there are plenty of instructors that pass everyone that pays.
So making it a requirement doesn't necessarily make it safer for people.
And again you shouldn't be required to take a class to utilize your constitutional right.

But he didn't make it a constitutional carry state. That was my point.
