Do dead ducks float?

Beginner duck hunter here. I shot a duck and was never able to retrieve it. I looked for a while and saw feathers in one area. I went to retrieve it immediately after I shot it but had no luck.

Yes they float. Live ducks will swim, dive and grab a root or lodge themselves under a log or brush to get away.

The ones we shoot usually sink because of all the lead in them...

Only if you are using floatable shot....if not you gonna have to fish for them.
