I Spray my house and yard with talspar already but needing recs for mosquito prevention.

I have a u shaped porch that's enclosed on three sides and open... Any suggestions to fight the mosquitos in a open environment?

I use a Stihl backpack sprayer with malathion about once a month and it seems to work. It also kills other insects.

That's like 400 bucks though, right?

Permethrin is tremendous. Around $100.00 for a gallon. Put 2 oz per gallon of water.

WAY better than Malathion.

Not pure but in mixes. It's not expensive. You can find it in generic stuff. It may be a bit lessened from what I can get but still works

I watched a video for talspar showing it eliminated mosquitos but I think it was bs

It is good as well. I would recommend a pyrethroid, like Karate, but with skin contact....no bueno.

I have no clue if it works but fertilome has come out with a line of mosquito products. Never used it but the fertilome brand has enough credibility in my opinion to give it a try as a supplement to your normal insecticide program.

Talstar aka Bifinthrin DOES eliminate mosquitoes, but like every other product it only lasts a week or so. There isn’t a good chemical to really handle them, and usually the best program is very aggressive with applications as well as eliminating standing water and other attractants.

A complete program also usually has applicatioms of multiple products.

Here is an example of a professional mosquito kit https://www.domyown.com/mosquito-control-kit-professional-p-14630.html

With that you would need a gas powered fogger

I use Bifen IT for control of bugs in the house, Bifen XTS for outside the house.

For mosquitoes, the Spartan system works the best.

If I kill ALL the mosquitoes, my wife will come outside, possibly (dare I say probably?) to complain. So for my sake I let some live to fly another day. This shite is chess not checkers.

Call the city. They will come spray in trucks in your area more often and will come spray your house/yard in some instances.

I've had it for about 2 months now, and it seems to be working great!

I have a bayou right behind the house. And usually there are swarms around.
I haven't seen one in a month.
I don't want to jump the gun just yet, but so far, the results have been incredible!

Question about the Spartan mosquito things. I bought 3 sets, hung a set at 3 different houses in 3 different cities. Not a single one has a dead mosquito in it. Also, we can tell no difference in the number of mosquitos around. Some are hung in bushes, under overhangs, etc but still nothing. The directions are pretty idiot proof but I think either it's BS or I've done something wrong.

Can you just install some ceiling fans? I'm not convinced you can do anything meaningful in your yard unless you have acres of land as they will travel from outside your yard.
