have any of you guys bedded your own rifle? If so, how were the results, level of difficulty, etc.? TIA
Started calling 'smiths back in May to get a read on timelines for two rifles and no one could guarantee to have them done before opening weekend.

This kit works well. Pro-Bed Kit

Yup. Use that kit or some JB weld. Just make sure you use releasing agent on anything you don’t want stuck.
Don’t over think it. Your basically filling in the space around the recoil lug and action screws.

I used Devcon plastic steel. Just about any epoxy will work, but you absolutely want to let it set up for a few mins to thicken. You will need a quarter of the amount you think you need. Take your time masking/covering things in the action, prepping the surface, and remember less is more. It’s plenty easy to DIY and shouldn’t take more than an hour, plus overnight to cure.

thanks for the link...I'm sure Larry Potterfield has a video I can watch.

I have done a few of them. It really improved the groups for a couple of them. It’s not difficult, just take your time.

I did it on my last rifle build. I used Arcaglas. It wasn't hard at all. However, that epoxy was just too thin. I wouldn't recommend. Honestly need to do it again and will likely not do it myself. Still load developing on that rifle. I do get sub 1" groups, but was hoping for 1/2". May get there as I'm just getting powder charge situated. Need to get neck tension and seating depth situated. If I'm not 1/2" by then, I'm going to pay someone to re-bed everything. Wanted to give it a shot myself and happy I tried, but spent too much on the components to play around with it. A lot of that has to do with the the clean-up of the first attempt.

Do you need to?

I was going to bed a new one last year just because I like tinkering but this article changed my mind. I will add pillars but don't think I'll bed it.
