Being that Blake and I graduated together we share many friends and I am starting to hear that there will be a serivice for him Saturday at Holy Savior church in Lockport. No apparent set time though.

Haven't heard much today from anyone. Still alot of support from lots of people but as the window of hope has closed the last few days the less word seems to get out.

All recovery operations have been halted and most everybody has made it back in. The family decided that he didn't want to be found and felt that Blake wouldn't want folks out there so long trying to recover him.
It looks like the family will be establishing a Blake Terry Foundation for Rescue and Recovery to help fund future search, rescue, and recovery operations in order to help out families in similar situations. Funds will likely be set up in both south Louisiana and on the Mississippi Coast for folks to donate to this foundation.
The family cannot express how much they truly appreciate all those that gave up their time and money to help with the search and recovery operations.

Do they have an idea as to what happened? Was it the before mentioned (then deleted) medical condition the guy had?

RIP. From the sound of the guy, he is probably the kind if it all came down to it, would want the GOM to be his final resting spot Another prayer for his family.

Just decided to click on this thread and read a bit through it...turns out I've met him a handfull of times. Worked with him last Summer in Fourchon on the spill and went have drinks at Moran's a couple of times with him and some other co-workers.
Very sad. Based on the one or two times I had actually talked to him, he seemed like a great guy. Very personable and everyone I worked with liked him too. Prayers go out to his family and friends. RIP BT

Good men must die, but death cannot kill their names.
RIP Blake Terry

I don't know him but judging by his passion for hardcore spearfishing I have a feeling this would have been his preference. I have a friend that has spent years in the dive industry and is an instructor and we had a similar conversation. He said if he ever comes down with a terminal illness he is going to set out over the continental shelf off of a coral reef and just fade into the darkness. Once nitrogen narcosis sets in it will be bliss then the pressure will just put you to sleep.

as bad as it sounds, if it was my time, I'd much rather go while spearfishing than getting in a car wreck. I'm sure BT felt the same

Thanks.

Blake Terry Celebration of Life
This Friday morning 9-12am we will have the wake at Holy Savior Church in Lockport.
The funeral starts at noon – attendance will be extremely high so come early.
After the funeral there will be a get together at the KC Hall in Lockport.
On Saturday between 6-6:30am we will meet at Point Fourchon at Chris Moran’s New Marina. (The boat launch is right behind the harbor patrol)
We will head out to Ewing Bank 873 – a.k.a. “Lobster” and have a Pirate Memorial Service. Bring anything you want to send down to Blake. We are going to have a big metal box with holes drilled in it to shove overboard.
After the Memorial Service we will run back into Fourchon, and then head to Grande Isle for a 2nd Memorial Service in Barataria Pass for the people that couldn’t make it all the way out to Lobster. Commencements of a BIG arse PARTY at the gated community on the end of the island to follow, in Blake’s honor.
People get killed in car accidents, they get shot by robbers, they get cancer, heart disease, but most never live their life like every second is their last. Blake loved the outdoors, and he died doing what he loved to do most, spearfish.
