Just buried my 16 year old toy poodle last week. I feel ya man!

I just had to make the call to put our boy Murphy down. He's been at LSU Vet school since Tuesday. His back legs stopped working so the local vet said his xrays showed disk issues in his back. Sounded legit so we hauled arse up there Wednesday morning as instructed. They didn't look at him until the yesterday and found a huge blood clot in his aorta extending into his pelvis blocking all blood flow. They tried high dose blood thinners and a transfusion, but the damage had been done to his blood system already due to lack of platelets, etc. Seem like my local vet would have picked up on this on the x-ray. Since when can you see disk issues on an x-ray anyway? Regardless, RIP my little buddy.

We don't deserve the dogs God allows us. I've cried rivers over the few that blessed me. So sorry for your loss.

Sounds like you had many good years with her that I hope you can look upon fondly as time passes.
Condolences on the loss of your pup.

Sorry for your loss brother. It sucks.
I just had to put my best friend down on Sunday. Colonel was my 14 year old border collie and the absolute best damn dog I’ve ever had. He literally did everything with me till the time he was 11 years old. Fishing camps, hunting camps, and came to work with me every day. Man it was hard getting up and having an empty dog bed next to our bed. RIP buddy.

Buried mine over the weekend she was almost 15yrs old. Was an old stray that showed up to the deer camp skin and bones and I took her home without the wife’s approval and the wife was totally against it. Fast forward many years later and the wife loved her I think only because all 3 of the kids loved her. She greeted me every morning leaving for work at 4:30 sleeping at the back steps. Got sprayed by every skunk within a half mile. Hit me hard but hit me harder when my 6yr old told me she just wanted Dixie back.

I have had four Golden Retrievers in the past forty years since I married. Our fourth is about five years old and they live about ten years. I didn't want to be without a dog at 75 and feel it is wrong to take on a pup at that age. So at 70 (now) we got yet another Golden Retriever female and she will be our last. They both keep us busy and we love them dearly.

Trouble with dogs is that they just don’t live as long as we do. Sounds like you had a lot of years to make memories with her.
Sorry for,the loss of your pup.
