Think I might go ahead and forward this page to the authorities since dumping diesel fuel is illegal.

Disgusting that any outdoorsmen would do this and also claim to care about our natural resources. These practices are illegal for a reason

Pour beer works better. Put corn in a bucket, fill with water, pour in a beer. Let stand for about a week. Dig a hole and dump entire contents in hole. Hogs will be all over it tomorrow and stay. Dump out used motor oil on ground and they will wallow in it.

Like I said earlier, I hope the Feds start hammering down on these practices. Hogs are a problem but you don't solve a problem by implementing a problem, especially when it could endanger people. Some people genuinely don't know any better and I try to educate them rather than trash them. When they choose to remain ignorant, frick em. Hope they get the hammer from the law.

There are many many ways to bait hogs that don't include using diesel fuel and used motor oil. Dont be a littering polluting dumbass.

I don't know the effects of diesel in digestion and I agree on face it doesn't seem good to do. I agree with dumping large amounts of oil and gas in the ground, but pouring a liter here and there is not a big deal at all. Its a pretty natural product and until we started collecting it there was petroleum seeping out of the ground all over the world.

Its a liter here and there directly into the food chain. Don't do that. You ever got diesel on your hands? It at least takes a whole day to get that smell out. Do you want that nasty shite in your food?

I just want to know when pouring diesel or motor oil on the ground became a practice that people are ok with.

Works well. The diesel will keep other animals from eating the corn but the hogs like the oil in the diesel. If much of it gets in the ground they will come back to that spot for yrs and wallow in it.

Literally anything works for hog bait. Don't go around feeding diesel to things that people eat.

Totally agree. I wouldn't want myself or my family to eat something that has been eating petrochemicals. What I have done that works great is to spray diesel on a pine tree. They will literally rub all the bark off & do so for months afterwards. If you put a cup of creso-d in the diesel before you spray that works too - smells like creosote diesel.

What's the goal here...to help your deer population by poisoning all the hogs on your land? Or to attract more hogs for you to hunt?

Wouldn't ingesting a fair amount of diesel end up killing the hogs? If not, I don't think I'd want to shoot and eat something that's been eating diesel anyway

I only started the topic because someone told me about it and I had scientific curiosity about it.

It doesn't mean that I would ever do it myself.

Some of you dummies are totally incapable of critical thinking.

The diesel stops other critters from eating the corn...so its left to attract pigs for you to pew pew so they stop fuking up your land and chasing off your deer and eatting all your deer corn. Not saying I agree one way or another...if it was my land I would look at all ways to rid myself of them. I would need to see some tested proof that the diesel is in amounts that would effect the meat for human consumption....becasue if you think those nasty fukers are not eating something you would not want to eat...your wrong. Again not saying I would do it or not...just my .2

So, attract pigs to your property so you can shoot pigs to keep pigs off your property?

I get it. You want hog bait that only works for hogs so you can shoot hogs. Use something other than fuel oil though. It can be as simple as making a mud hole and pouring soured corn in it if you want to attract them. Basically anythinf attracts them and nothing really competes with them for it. If you have hogs and put a 100 pound pile of fresh cracked corn out, pigs are going to eat 80 pounds of it.

Yes they probably eat horrible shite when you aren't looking. You can't control that. You can control how much diesel you feed them though, and that should be zero. If everybody adopted that thinking, they wouldn't be eating refined petrochemicals unless they rooted them out from under somebody's leaky tractor.

I know pigs will eat anything and plenty of nasty shite, but little different eating diesel soaked corn than to eat other nasty shite that occurs naturally in the woods. I wouldn't eat poisoned or diesel fed hogs...just curious if the diesel actually kills them

I don't think they'd eat enough to kill them. It'd have to be more diesel than corn I think and I doubt they'd eat that. I don't think they'd drink diesel if you put a bucket of it out, there's just not enough if it on the corn to stop them from eating it. It will stop other sane animals from eating it.

Still, they won't pass up regular corn to eat Diesel corn.

Actually, you don't get it.

I only started the topic because someone told me about diesel fuel being used to attract hogs. I was only curious about if this was true or not, not that I had some grand plan to attract hogs and then shoot them.

I'm sorry I asked the question.

It caused too many girls to jump to conclusions and get their panties all asunder.
