I didn’t shoot a single deer this year and eat most of my tags every year.
Same here. Our lease had a down year this year but I’m pretty picky so I usually go a few years between shooting a buck.
Great deer, OP!

I apply in Texas as a non resident and have the dream of pulling their sheep hunt. Love the Big Bend area.
It's my favorite part of the state.
Good luck with the draw, it is an amazing opportunity

I recalled that we had a poster draw the tag. That’s so awesome. I drew an Idaho Bighorn tag back around 2006. Incredible animal to hunt.

Now THAT’S epic! Are you planning the Sheep Slam now? That’s high on the bucket list for me.

It takes a whole lot of money to slam now. Even if you draw your Rocky and Desert.

hell no. I don't have $250k to throw down for the other 3.

I’m a deer away and have 8 more days of primitive..
I have 3 in burger/steaks/patty sausage, 1 whole deer in link sausage, and I gave my mother and step father one that they cut up themselves.
I ran out of 3 deer in August, so went with 4 this year.

Had a good year for my young hunting career. Had more sits that any other year by far. Got two nice 8 points and was after a big 10 that always seemed to evade me. Let alot of small deer walk this year and it paid off. Already counting down the days until next season.

Happy for all who had luck this year. Just being in the woods is a gift in itself. The sad thing is you don’t really appreciate that alone until life throws you a curve ball. Found out I had cancer 4 years ago and as a result I am limited physically. Have to pick days when I am up to it. Thankfully I have a couple of long time friends who make those days possible. Went in November when weather was nice. Let 13 deer walk that hunt. Got to go several times more and did not kill. Saw some at extreme end of shooting time but did not shoot as I don’t take sketchy shots. Season is over for me this year. My daughter shot a nice Buck on my place so I ended up with enough meat. My advice if you care, is go as often as you can. Relish those days because you just never know when things can change. Already looking forward to next season!

We don't do tags, but I shot 1 of my 2 buck limit and one antlerless. To truly limit out I would have to shoot 3 does a day for the whole season, that would be a challenge.
Most importantly, my oldest son got his first one.

I never “tag out “ because we wouldn’t be able to keep or eat it all.
I did kill two 8 pts and my son got two does and a 9 pt that’s at the taxidermist.
One of the best seasons of my life because of the time spent and memories made with him (he killed first deer at 12 and then didn’t care about hunting until he was 20).

I saw nothing this season. Nothing. Frustrating.
