The commission is also listed on the Dept. of wildlife and fisheries website along with e-mails and phone numbers. However don't hold your breath on them calling you back. To date only two have responded to me Chad Courville and Bert Yapuzack.

Toledo bend going to become the new Catahoula lake if you keep up all this posting about it..

Also, I believe we owe each other a trip swap based on call BS of your numbers last year in earlier thread. We need to set that up.

I had a conversation with my senator yesterday, and he also felt like the commission was heavy handed to the south Louisiana folks. He told me that our representative tried to pass legislation a few years backr to have more representation for north Louisiana, but never got anywhere because of this trend. I'm calling him today, and see what was the outcome, and to try to jump start it again. My senator said nothing can be done until next year, session begins in march, but he said he would do anything he could to help my cause. And by the way the Dept. of Wild.and Fish Agency comes under the natural resource committee. There is no committee just dedicated to hunting and fishing. Its grouped in with oil, farming, timber harvesting, crayfish farming and what not. You would think a state that has as its motto, "Sportsmans Paradise, would have a committee didicated to the outdoors. OBC I would say our second split decline has gone on for more than 15 to 20 years. Even with bad arse cold fronts coming through, very little duck movement here. I don't understand it, because it used to awesome up until the early nineties. And I've got the hunting logs to prove it. We just don't see the birds moving later like we do in the first split. It's not really about the killing, it's about the seeing and hoping that gets me excited. When you look at empty skies all morning, you get burnt out. Hell if wanted to hunt like that I would deer hunt.

I wish they would leave it up to each parish to decide when and how long the seasons would be. I know it would be a headache for law enforcement, but parishes that have hardly any impact on waterfowl shouldn't be lumped in with parishes that do. Remember when steel shot being introduced back in the late 70's early 80s, the parishes that held more waterfowl were steel shot only, and parishes like vernon, beauregard and such were the last to go to steel. We hunted lead way after the coastal parishes went steel. Its like the zones for deer hunting. I mean if you don't know when your area is open for duck hunting, you shouldn't even have a license. I believe, and I'm not a deer hunter, there is three zones for deer hunting in vernon parish. I know two for sure. And the split going for two weeks is really gonna be a killer for me. I loved the one week last year, but two, the lake will be full of ducks. I would like our season to open the last weekend in oct., and run straight thru with no splits. Be over by the new year. I bet my parish doesn't kill over a thousand ducks a year. And most of those are woodies. They even stopped the weekend youth hunt because hunters were pissed the kids were killing their ducks the weekend before the splits. LDWF commission hates kids.
