Anyone doing any good in the 4 Horse, Lake John or Lake Campo areas?
Haven’t been since December and am getting the itch to go with the weather getting better.
Thanks

Extension of this topic, any places in Delacroix/hopedale that are good kayak fishing places for the spring that y’all have been going to recently?

Went about 3 weeks ago. Even though there was a SE wind, the water was very low and dirty as hell around little lake, lake batola, grand lake. We fished for 3 hours, tried 15 different spots and couldn’t lose a live shrimp. Guy at the launch said the water on the north side of terre aux boef around lake amadee, lake robin was clean.

Kayak fishing in those areas is some of the best kayak fishing you can do. However, you are limited by your lack of range, so the kayak spots are all the kayak spots. Here are some of my old ones.

Hopedale Marina
Launch out of the kayak launch at Hopedale marina and head south to the spoil canal and then into the canal that branches off of the spoil canal. Spend all day in those little coves and the bayou connecting them. You'll come across some eventually.

Pips
I would say only do this if you have a pedal kayak but a buddy of mine did this with only a paddle. Launch at pips, head into Hopedale lagoon. Explore it, you'll find fish eventually.

Campos
Launch campos and head into the old Shell Beach marsh.

Anywhere on the road to Delacroix
Combat launch and go anywhere you see clean water.

Kayak fishing has its own unique flair. I do miss it sometimes, but it is about the grind and working and working. All of these spots (except the Hopedale spot) you'll probably find a lot of privacy. That enables you to work locations very thoroughly.

Good luck man.

fished Friday and Saturday in Delacroix. Friday caught 41 nice trout with half 19in or more. Hardly any throw backs and most 15in. or more. All on plastic, 4 people in the boat and quit at noon on friday. The wind really dirtied the water for saturday and only 10 keepers, all big trout. Stopped at probably 10 spots each day and picked up few here and there.

Thanks for the report, Donzi. Great trip on Friday.
Would you be willing to give areas you fished??
Thanks in advance.

Truthfully, my buddy has a camp there and he does all the driving, it all looks the same to me. I know we hit grand lake, 4 horse, 4 corners, lake john and twin pipelines among others. Surprisingly the boat traffic was minimal, but its about to get busy!
