$600

It really depends on where you are. Expect to pay double that in South TX/hill country.

Morse Taxidermy in Ponchatoula charging $750 this year. Phenomenal work. You can get them cheaper, but his work is top notch. I keep going to him because I know what I’m getting.

I had a guy in Vidor that used to be around $750 but now it’s 2 hours out of my way since I don’t live in LA anymore. I use places close to where I hunt so I can just drop it off without having to keep it on ice for a few days and have to deal with on the way back home.

Plus it gives an excuse to make a trip when it’s ready.

Just depends on how good the taxidermist is. The guy that's good enough for me starts at $650 for shoulder mounts. The really good ones charge over $1,000. It can definitely be seen in their work. My guy had to go up on his price because he was getting too much business.

The more people post in this thread the more proof you and your deer are both getting mounted by your taxidermist

A local taxidermist where you hunt makes a lot of sense in the age of CWD transport laws.
I’ve had heads mounted and skulls boiled in multiple states and they’ve all turned out well. The Nevada mule deer did take about a year and a half.
