Got in a club near Meadville Mississippi. Was wondering if there were any good processors in the area or on the way back home to N.O. TIA for any replies.

Get one in MS. The rules about transporting carcasses are real.

As long as you are not in managed CWD zone you can transport the carcass our of MS., but not the spinal or brain matter out of the state.

Not true. Only from a CDW managed area cannot have bone. All other areas of MS in LA is legal as long as the spinal column and/or brain are not present. I read LA and MS wesbsite on CWD.
From MS on the CDW management zones:
Carcasses may not be transported outside of any CWD Management Zone. Research has shown that decomposed carcasses of infected animals can also contribute to transmission when prions bind to soil and plant material. Thus, movement of carcasses may introduce CWD into previously uninfected areas. Any harvested deer may be taken directly to a taxidermist or meat processor within the CWD Management Zone. Only the below products may leave the CWD Management Zone:
Cut/wrapped meat (commercially or privately)
Deboned meat
Hides with no head attached
Finished taxidermy
Antlers with no tissue attached
Cleaned skull plates (no brain tissue)
Cleaned skulls (no lymphoid or brain tissue)

What you are talking about is transportation within the state. That’s where CWD zones come into play.

When talking about bringing deer across state lines, it’s deboned meat only. Period

I've been to whitetail butcher shop but it was a very long time ago. Never been to Vine's. I like to get the breakfast sausage and I go through a lot of ground meat too. Any preference for people who've been to both processors?

From LDWF on the CWD page:
reindeer.
B. No person shall import, transport or possess any
cervid carcass or part of a cervid carcass originating outside
of Louisiana, except: for meat that is cut and wrapped; meat
that has been boned out; quarters or other portions of meat
with no part of the spinal column or head attached, antlers,
clean skull plates with antlers, cleaned skulls without tissue

attached, capes, tanned hides, finished taxidermy mounts
and cleaned cervid teeth. Any and all bones shall be disposed
of in a manner where its final destination is at an approved
landfill or equivalent. Said rule shall be effective March 1,

I'm just going off what the website says.

The agent I got on the phone said quartered bone in is fine as long as there is no spinal or brain matter. He said the exception is leg bones (quarters) can be, but no other bones, ribs, neck, etc.

I don't believe that's correct. Atleast according to Wildlife and Fisheries.

Cervid Carcass Importation

"Effective March 1, 2017, no person shall import, transport or possess any cervid carcass or part of a cervid carcass originating outside of Louisiana, except:

· Meat that is cut and wrapped
· Meat that has been boned out
· Quarters or other portions of meat with no part of the spinal column or head attached
· Antlers
· Clean skull plates with antlers
· Cleaned skulls without tissue attached
· Capes
· Tanned hides
· Finished taxidermy mounts
· Cleaned cervid teeth."

ETA: shite, somebody beat me to it.

I live about 10 minutes from Meadville. Before I started processing my own we always used Vines. They used to do just smoked sausage and patty. They’ve since added pineapple , jalapeño/cheese etc. The regular or spicy smoked are still very good.
