I have two cell cameras out and was getting a ton of pics the week after Thanksgiving, this week not so much.

I'm sure some of it's due to my corn running out but they are on the edge of a green field planted in Rye.

Add in the fact that it was falling into the 30's the week after Thanksgiving and now we're seeing highs in the 70's!

Wilkinson county

Still getting some doe pictures but most pics have really slowed down especially buck pictures, and mostly at night. Our deer always go into a sort of lock down before the rut for 1-3 weeks. It's seeming like we are in the middle of that lockdown. I had a 3 and 4 year old buck have a stand off in a feed pile at 3:30 this morning on camera and the younger buck just put his head down and walked off so it's not far off. The next full moon should get that 5th leg hard and put their brains in their sack.

I see dozens within a mile of the house. But then I drive 45 minutes to see none. Well, one this year. Two if you count the one that threw himself into the front of my vehicle.

Same,

We let the feeders run dry and the camera pics went down to 3-10 a night. Hardly any daytime activity. Food plots look great too.

They are hammering the plots but they are almost completely nocturnal....especially the bucks.

Well, I found out that I couldnt return for a few weeks so I decided to fill the feeders again in an attempt to "re-inventory" our bucks and pray they were all still alive. Last night, every single buck we had fed and seen all summer was on a feeder. Not one has been killed. 89 pics.

Literally filled the feeders yesterday afternoon.

TLDR Deer love corn, bucks are smart.

They have been smashing White oak flavored Nate's buck bait but at $25 a sack I'm about to change their diet.

Lawrence County in Silver Creek. Bucks still together. Some small scrapes. Both bucks and does eating feeder corn. Lots of movement. Does 24 hours a day. Bucks early morning, late evening and late night. No chasing on cameras that I've seen yet. Back leg glands still very light colored. Rut isn't going on yet.

We are post-rut in SC, and all of the movement we are seeing starts right at dusk. Mostly does, but we have two shooter bucks who are still showing up from time to time. Had heavy rain most of the day yesterday, but we had 10 does come out to feed about 5pm after it stopped on one of our cams.

Avoyelles parish. Cameras are showing bucks that were confined to a small area are now being seen at other cameras. They starting to look. Daytime too. Headed up shortly trying to find a mature one for my boy to get.
