Looking at a lease east of Liberty in Amite County, MS for next year.

Trying to get a ball park idea of what leases in the area are going for? Feel like what they’re asking is way high.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Let a few more reports of CWD come out. Prices are about to plummet.

I don't know about plummet but I'd expect the prices to fall a bit from hunters with children who they don't want to take any risks with eating venison. And prices will probably climb back up a bit after the initial shock of cwd being present. Like 5 years or so.

We are East of Liberty in Marion County. There are multiple owners, but the combined average lease is ~$15/acre for 1,800 acres. Mostly mature pine plantation, but some hardwood and a large ~4-5 year cut over. The club has been there for nearly 20 years.

I’ve heard about leases in the area as high as $28-$30/acre.

I’m north of liberty. No mention of CWD here that I’ve heard.
Is it pines or hardwoods. I’d say 15-18 an acre for pine and 20+ for good hardwood creek bottoms.

Mix of pine and hardwood about 50/50. They want around $28/acre. I think it’s high for the type of deer that have been shot on the property. Not really great genes.

Nothing available on that link close to Liberty other than 2100 acres in Marion county. Good leases here are hard to come by I’m guessing due to the proximity to BR.
