Do you baws think it’ll even be worth the time hunting this weekend?

Very mild temps Friday and Saturday along with rain. Sunday morning is supposed to be a little cooler at 55.

Mosquitos going to be an issue Saturday. I am staying out of the woods until Sunday afternoon more than likely.

I’ve got several things going on this weekend and am not going to hunt. We’re 3 weeks away from the rut. Time to rest up and build a few points with the wife. I might make a bow hunt this pm on a small spot close by.

Q: Do you want to hunt?

If yes, go hunt

If no, just give it up and take up golf

this myth has been dispelled many times just an old times excuse just like if cows are laying down you shouldn't go

I hunted this past weekend and saw more deer during daylight than I have all year and most people I know that hunted had great success as well

I talked to a few deer this week. Said they’re going on vacation this weekend.

I’ll be at it. Also have camp work to do and hang a stand. Will make some sits for hogs as well.

Yeaaaaa.... no. I would have agreed a few years ago after hunting all over Texas for 10+ years. However, now that I'm back to hunting in Louisiana and the swamps, those old "myths" that you speak of are true as shite. I keep a journal of the date, times, weather, moon phase, etc. for every set in the woods. Also do the same with the numerous cameras I have set up. I can promise you, based on my hunts and times and dates on game cam pics, that the moon phase and other conditions DO play a major role in that particular area (that I hunt). Like I said, I've hunted other places where the deer didn't give two shits about the wind, moon, etc. Other places and animals, it does.

JMHO

Either way... my arse will be fighting mosquitos and the heat this weekend in the woods. Good luck guys and happy hunting

I'll be building up points as well. Gonna take the boys to a birthday party and do a few things I've been putting off around the house. Our lease doesn't start getting good til Christmas anyway.

Going out in the morning because that's all the time I got this weekend. Kids parties and decorating the house. Deer aren't too active anyway, gonna build points with wife for 2nd split & rut.

of course they do

but they dont bed down all day and come out only at night to feed during a full moon

they can see at night just fine whether the moon is full or a new moon

the peak times they move may vary but if you decide not to.go deer hunting because the moon is full you are missing out

I have the time to hunt this weekend, so I’m going to hunt. That’s pretty much the only factor I consider.
