Not sure what rice brand is right now. Haven't messed with the stuff in a while. Soon though, very soon
There is a place along the river that we used to by soybean by the ton from. I don't remember where though.

How much "Deer corn" do you feed? No deer hunter here, just curious how huge of a financial impact this is to hunters.
We go through about 1500 lbs in one feeder so you can imagine how much it costs to hunt big property with multiple feeders. I would think that most hunting clubs go through several tons.

We bought something like 500 lbs last year from a grain elevator. My dad knew someone who worked there though so I dunno how easy it is. I think it came out to something like 4.50 for every 50 lbs is what we paid. It wasn't cleaned though.

I refuse to buy corn to feed deer. I usually just feed a sack or two of rice bran during bow season to get my doe. Deer at our place don't seem like they are big fans of corn anyway.

Last weekend at O'neals in Ruston, it was $6.95 for a 50# bag.

Corn is $11 a sack and rice bran is $10 a sack. Both local places i've been to said they dont see the prices dropping any.

Yeah, his is more in line with what I am seeing.
Same price to feed the TSC protein feed.

Damn at $11 a sack you might as well feed soybeans. Last year they were around $13/sack not sure what they are now though. Anyone know?

I think with corn prices continuing to increase plus the cost of gas that we will probably start to see a lot of people stop hunting or at least stop spending the money on it that they used to. Our club is going to probably have to go up 50% next year because of the land lease prices so it should be interesting.

Property turns into cypress swamp right inside those woods then gets a little harder between us and the ICW but stays swampy and has a decent amount of water on it when it is raining regularly. Otto Candies owns the property behind us and besides a few poachers it isn't hunted just has some cattle on it. It is almost 1600 acres and goes from Greenwood Subdivision damn near all the way to our shipyard by the pontoon bridge. I think that property came along with Eagle Island when he bought it. Pretty much the only reason our small acreage is huntable. We have about a 700x700 section of woods at the back of our property.

Thats awesome. I just noticed their muddy feet but never really thought about what yall had back there between yall and Houma

Man I would love to be able to lease that property behind us for hunting but from what I have been told they are uninterested. They have a deal cut with a farmer we know to run cattle back there but that is about it. Pretty sure they have a few ponds on it too. If you go to google maps and look between lower bayou blue and the ICW you can get a good idea of the amount of land between the houses along the road and the ICW. Problem is that most of the deer activity is nocturnal. I am doing everything I can to change their habits though.
Lets see if this works.
