Deepwater Crawfish Nets

Since crawfish season isn't that far off, I would like to know if anyone crawfishes with deepwater nets out of a boat? If so, what are some good spots to target?
Thanks
Thanks

I use regular traps in shallow water and pillow traps where it is too deep for the regular traps. Tie a coke bottle on a string attached to it. It's not rocket science.
About a month ago I set 2 regular and one pillow in my duck hole baited with expired hot dogs overnight just to test.
This is what I got from the 3 traps.
My whole string of traps is 14 regular and 6 pillows. I can catch about a sack a night when they start running more in the coming weeks/months.
For clarity...
Regular
Pillow

You talking the drop nets like people use for crabs or the pillow trap above?

The crawfish farming industry refers theses as “pyramid” traps for an obvious reason.
Some crawfish trappers/farmers like to call crawfish traps “cages”.

For sure, but I feel like that gets confused with the recreational traps with a soft net bottom I also hear called pyramid traps. Those have to be checked regularly.
I like to set 'em and forget 'em for 12-24 hours.
ETA: Great topic OP. I've been thinking about crawfish a lot lately. I'm ready to start catching them.
It took me 2 different locations and a couple of tries stocking quality crawfish the last few years. After my December test I posted above. I think my spot on my own private land is ready to pay dividends this year.

There are drop nets specifically made for crawfish. Same style as the crab net but finer mesh. I don't have them but I saw them in action years back.
As far as spots, no clue. All my spots are dried up. I just buy them. May start looking again in a couple years when my kids get a bit older.

deep water nets are similar to set nets (think of a crab net with tighter webbing) with a 6-10 foot line and cork...

Yes, there are deepwater crawfish nets with a finer mesh than crab nets. I was wondering if anyone had ever tried using these in shallow area of Lake Verret?
