Congrats to the both of you. I had a similar experience with my daughter around that age. You would have thought she killed a state record when we saw him hit the ground if you would have been hunting around us lol. Those memories last forever and glad y’all got to share such an amazing memory together.

Awesome. Great time spent with your daughter. My youngest is 30 now and we still go hunting when we can. She says her fondest memories are our time fishing , deer and turkey hunting together. Good for you getting her out there.

Congrats to both of you. So proud of your daughter for her perseverance.
My first deer kill was also a spike. I still remember a lot of details of that day.

I started taking all my kids to the duck blind when they were 3. The fact that she’s a girl had no bearing on that. My wife says that my daughter just likes sitting in the stand because it’s just us two. I feel the same way. I know everything about all the 7th grade kids. Who’s dating who, which one said this, which one did that. It’s all priceless time. My kids are my favorite hunting partners. I get exponentially more joy and excitement from them killing than I do. My son had a deer come out with a few minutes left of shooting time on an overcast day a couple weeks ago. He couldn’t see it well enough through his scope. I grabbed his rifle, the deer was perfectly broadside at 70. I said I’ve got the perfect shot, here get on him and take it. Never even considered pulling the trigger.

This post choked me up. I’ve got three boys
5, 3, and 1.
Their mother knows her time is limited because they will be my hunting buddies very soon. The 5 and 3 have already been with me on a few hunts.
It’s the best. I could care less if we see or kill deer. It’ll happen eventually and I can only imagine it will be just as exciting as their births.

Awesome story and Congrats to both of you!!!
My youngest son (8) killed his first deer last Monday (11-25) evening. It came out on the trail I told him it was coming out of, went right down the lane, turned broadside, etc just like he and I had discussed over and over during the course of several hunts in that particular stand.
When the deer came out, I was beside myself elated, trying to get him situated with ear muffs on, rifle settled, while keeping an eye on the deer. He told me he had a steady aim, just behind the front shoulder, removed the safety, etc. I told him to squeeze the trigger, trying to complete the sentence of "when you are ready", then BAM!!!!!
The deer dropped to its knees, then jumped straight up, and crippled off into the woods behind the stand. I heard it go down directly behind us in the woods, but could not tell him the deer was dead. My Dad was hunting with my oldest son (almost 12) across the property and this occurred at 5:06 PM. I told my youngest we needed to let them hunt until dark and Papaw wanted to be with us to track his deer.
Dark comes, we all get together, find blood everywhere, I see the deer piled up and told my youngest to come around the tree to where I was so he could "find it". He sees it and I will never forget the look on his face.
What blew my mind about it was the deer was a 144# 5 point.... I never saw the horns during the several minute ordeal of making sure my youngest had everything covered on his end, standing directly beside me, etc. for a successful encounter for him.
We were all beyond excited when the four of us embraced the moment. It completed the grand slam for my Dad of having all 4 grandsons kill their first deer on the family land with him there to help recover them. Moments like these are savored forever.

Congrats to both of you.
My son killed his first with a 44mag. Just killed his first buck this past weekend with it too. It was his great grandfather's gun.

Very nice. Congratulations!
I tried and tried for years to get my girls to shoot and hunt with me and they were just never interested.
ALthough my younger one, now 18, will occasionally shoot a steel challenge match with me.

That's fantastic man. I killed my first deer with a .44 when I was about her age. Great story

Congratulations to you both! That was awesome, thanks for sharing.
We're moving our 6yo up from her Red Ryder to a pink single shot Savage Rascal this Christmas. Hoping to share a moment like that one day in the next few years as she moves up.

She got bloodied, but did you cut her shirt tail too?
Congratulations…………..
She will forever remember that first deer. I’m over 60 and can still remember my first deer.

Awesome.
Its nice to see another child getting into hunting. Especially a girl.
Glad she has some success and tell her to keep at it!
Both my children (boy and girl) love to hunt. I started taking them with me when they are about 4. I had always hunted out of climbers so I had to build a couple of shooting houses. They did great. I built the houses 6x6 and put carpet on floor and walls. Windows and a propane heater and they would stay for 4-5 hours at a sit. They were big enough they sometimes would take a nap. Never asked to leave or go back to the camphouse.

Memories and life experiences are what makes everything worthwhile. That is a great story/experience that neither of you will ever forget.
Congrats on the deer, but bigger congrats on raising a great kid!

It’s like women, you never forget your first.
My boy killed his first at 7 years old. I told him “you’ll kill a lot of deer in your life but you will always remember this one”
