What’s the best bait to put in my pillow traps. Fishing a cypress break

Buffalo, shad, mullet or if you can get catfish heads from a commercial hoop net fisherman.

I used to use melt (pancreas) not sure that can be purchased anymore.

Same. It seems like you'd need to find a more traditional butcher shop.

If in BTR, get the catfish heads from Tony’s Seafood.

Any oily fish or any meat marinated in crawfish attractant. Never missed!

This was my go-to when I went crawfishing, and it can still be bought if needed.
I loved it because it was tough and bloody and I'd secure it in my net, give it a squeeze to get the blood oozing and drop the net in the water.

Y’all making me want to order a couple dozen set nets and head out to French Settlement!

Melt ain’t holding up in a trap mang, be washed out in a few hours. Catfish skeletons or at least pogies

At one time I had 3 dozen nets and had a spot I'd crawfish off Hwy 51 heading between Laplace and Hammond long before the elevated interstate was built.
My cousin and I would easily catch a couple sacks before heading home to clean up and boil. Made for some pretty long days between driving there, setting out the nets, making the rounds, driving back home, cleaning all the nets and then boiling the crawfish and cleaning that mess up.
That reminds me why I'll just buy a sack today......
