Making a Crappie trip this Thursday to Sunday. Any advice on what they are bitting on this time of year?

Never been to Guntersville, but the answer is always going to be, shiners, hair jigs and soft plastics on a jig head.

I’d definitely have chartreuse/black tube jigs with 1/16th oz lead heads in the boat. Great lure on all crappie waters.

Just strictly crappie? Can’t really show you or tell you, I’d have to be in the boat with you. I’ve got a honey hole over there. You’d catch a cooler full of em.

It’s going to all our first time fishing there. We will mostly be fishing for Crappie but will try for bass as well.

The guide that will be taking us crappie fishing next June caught their limits yesterday in less than two hours. This is on Truman Lake in Clinton, MO. The limit is 15 per person and he had two men in his boat with him.

That’s awesome. My buddy that I’m going with was told last week that they have been catching the 30 per person limit daily. All of them over 2 pounds. If this is true I will be in fishing heaven. Lol

The guide mentioned that if the crappie are not a certain size he will throw it back. From the pictures they look huge. If my wife and I catch our limit of 15 and there is still time left he will catch his 15 and we take them all home with us after he cleans them. He mentioned that he uses a tube or torpedo setup which I have no idea what he is talking about.

That's a lot of 14+inchers

Great trip and good eating if it comes to fruition.

Best of luck! No bad time on the water

This is what I would call tube and torpedo lures. Let us know how it goes. May have to add that to my lakes to tryout.

I've done a lot of fishing at both and if its not too late I'd go to Lake Weiss for Crappie instead. Others have already correctly pointed out what to use though.
