Classroom time from 8 to noon, then 36 shots at the range. Total cost for me was $270.
$100 for the class
$125 for the license
$25 for notary
$10 for photos
$10 for fingerprints.

Except that Alabama permits aren't respected in nearly as many states as Louisiana permits.
Mine was about $250 after all was said and done. I took the class at Precision and they took care of the pictures and stuff. All I had to do was go to the state police station and get fingerprinted. That's it.

At the gun range in Pasadena it's 150 for the class. After the class, license and whatnot it comes to be about $250.

My bank charges $10 for a certified check so I doubt they would throw in notarizing for free. In the longrun $25 wasn't a big deal.

I think bama's are good in 25 states
LA's are good in about 40
I paid ~$25 for mine in bama. Is it only $7.50 to renew it?

This guy is damn good and knowledgeable. He also has a notary with him that notorizes everything you need in the class. $90 for the class and notary, and $5 or so extra if you want him to do your pictures too.

What time do their classes end if they start at 1pm? I thought in La the class had to be 8 hours.

The cost of not carrying and not being proficent with what you carry when you or your fellow innocents need it far out weighs any monetary cost.
But I have a feeling you already know that.
