The cost of not carrying and not being proficent with what you carry when you or your fellow innocents need it far out weighs any monetary cost.

But I have a feeling you already know that.
Indeed I do. I am getting my dad and his 3 neighbors to come with me to get the CC

Class hours and length vary. The class I took was from 6 til 830 two nights a week and we shot at the range at our convience the day of the second class. The instructor was there all day because the range is at his shop.
Also you are required to report any charge you've ever had. I had a dwi 8 years ago and plead no contest so it would come off my record but was told I still had to report it and get the certified court documents. Also if you ever had a divorce you have to send a copy of the divorce decree as well. Just FYI.

$20 or $25 in Alabama. I've had one for almost thirty years and it'll let me go where I need to. Mailed to me every year. No class. No fingerprinting. No picture. References required.
