I will be going by an indoor range next week to check on the CC requirements and classes. I am thinking the S&W 9mm shield will be my best option with an OWB holster. I need to find a place where I can actually try some holsters with my S&W. I like the look of this one.

1) What do y'all do when you are sitting/driving your vehicle? Do you take the handgun/holster out? This seems like the most uncomfortable.
2) Would you take a one on one or a group class?
3) What is the distance for the live firing? I have access to a outdoor range I could practice on whenever it warms up some.
1) I might use a shoulder holster or cross draw. Or you might set it under your weak side leg.
2) Depends on the budget, instructor availability and needs.
3) Start at 10 yards and work various situations before increasing distance. Most real shooting situations are pretty close.
Something that you have left out is dry fire exercise. You will learn more from dry fire than you will from live fire. You might get one of the chamber laser inserts to see where you are hitting. Proper grip, trigger control and sight alignment can be worked from home - after clearing the gun; removing all ammo from the area and selecting a totally safe area to practice toward. Check it all again - every time you change anything or take a break. Jerry Miculek has a good YouTube video on thumbs high forward grip and dry firing.
