shite works and works well, just like the old steel scouring balls but easier to rinse off when done.

Food grade mineral is by far the best to use when storing seldom used pots like ya big jambalaya pot ya drag out twice a year. Or the extra big flat bottom in the attic. for ya daily use pots and weekly use fry pans any oil will do never use pam or those sprays though if ya dont use them for a week or so the pam turns into some wanky rubber cement or something and is hard to clean.

A light soap will be suitable if it is well seasoned. The seasoning is a bonding that is formed when oil is heated and cooled, so youll be fine.
You should be good, though, just scrubbing it with a sponge and hot water.

I've never used soap on cast iron. If stuff is stuck on it, I'll heat water up in it to get it off. But it's usually just hot tap water, scrub and wipe clean, then apply a thin layer of vegetable oil.
Now this may require something to get the fish out. I've never let fish grease sit up for 3 weeks in a shed.

It isn't ruined. Clean the shite out of it with dawn, a scratch pad, and warm water. Knock all of the rust out, dry, then hear on stove. When cool related 1-2 more times then oil it. I've revived some pots that were in terrible shape in no time.
