Clark Creek - hiking

Thinking about taking my 11 year old son on a hike soon; has anyone been to Clark Creek recently? I've never been, but he hiked it a couple years ago with some of his cousins.
Any do's, donts, advice, etc...?
I'd assume most of the creek bottoms/waterfalls are relatively dry with this weather we've had over the past 6 weeks.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If I could do it again I would get some Keen's and walk the creek bed instead of up and down the hills.

Took the family about a month or so ago, it was pleasant. First time going, wish we would have taken the creek bed.
Family included my wife, 10yo daughter, 8yo son, and almost 3yo daughter.
They slept like a rock on the ride home lol.

Make sure to have more than enough water to stay hydrated.
We also packed snacks (string cheese, crackers, lunchables, etc) as well as a few pre made sandwiches.
The rocks can get very slippery, so be careful.
Pack some towels, extra set of clothes and shoes. Leave them in the car so yall can change for the ride home.

If you go, write back and let us know how it went. I've been wanting to take my kids. None of us have been before.

Thanks for all of the quick responses. We’re most likely going to go...I’ll definitely report back.

Went this past weekend. My first time. Very enjoyable. We took the "primitive" trail. Gave my two waters to my wife and her friends who got thirsty, I stuck to my 6 beers. Will go back, and will go counterclockwise next time. That way all the best sights are on the last part of the journey.
Will also be bringing a grocery bag next trip.. plenty of jacklegs who throw their water bottles and trash on ground along the way.

We might pass each other with full Wal-Mart bags. People that seek out nature to enjoy it and simultaneously trash it confuse me.

We took the dogs about a month ago, hot as hell. Took the dogs down to the waterfall and had a blast.

I’ve been several times. Just hiking the creek beds will be enjoyable with kids, but as someone mentioned the rocks can get slippery.
You can do the primitive trail with older kids, but use plenty bug spray. The ticks might not be terrible now, but they are BAD around there in the summer.

Is this waterfall well marked? Might have our dogs with us & definitely don’t want to miss it.

at the bottom of last big hill you will see a small stream with a bulkhead, just out from the stairs. enter the stream there and walk down it, there's two trails to it. that will lead you directly over the first waterfall.
Or you can take the hill route (goes up and to the right/away from the stream.

There is an article in the November/December 2017 issue of MS Outdoors magazine about Clark Creek hiking in case you happen to see a copy somewhere.
