CHP renewalPosted by upgrayedd

Filled out all my info online and didn't get prompted to pay. It's been about 2 weeks or so. Do they send you an email to pay once it's been approved? Can't remember how the process went last time.
I applied for my renewal in October, mine expired mid December. At the end of November I got the email to pay. I paid but had not recovered my new card in the mail. I called yesterday and they said my background check isn’t competed yet. I thought when they asked for you to pay, they were done with the process, the lady told me on the phone that when they ask for payment, it is beginning the process

I know you get a 60 day grace period, but what happens if their renewal takes longer than that? Are you considered still valid if LSP is the hold up even when using the expedited electronic process?
I don't know, I don't carry very much

fricking government

What do you mean it only applies to the status of your application?

Yup.
Don’t carry beyond the expiration date on your license. I believe it’s a felony.

Wtf. That is screwed up. I submitted mine on Oct 3 and only got the notice to pay on 12/29. It said then that my application had been ACCEPTED.
Did you submit online or by mail?

My online renewal took between 45-60 days.... can't imagine what would take that long.. it's a renewal, a five year background check should be pretty much instant.
BTW if you have an DD214 and submit it you will not be asked for a payment all fees are waived (I assume that's for an Honorable).
Edit: If you renew for a 5 year permit no NICS checks need to be done for FFL purchases, if you renew for a LIFETIME permit, you have to do the NICS checks.

If I remember correctly, they send you a link to pay after they have received and accepted your application.
Not accepted as in "you're good to go and your permit is approved/renewed", but accepted as in "we have acknowledged your groveling to enjoy your Constitutionally protected rights and you may now pay us to slow walk your approval, fricking citizen".
