I had to make a no chocolate rule on my boat. Melted M&Ms are a nightmare

Our trips include lunch; sandwich chips candy bar.
Two brothers and one 4 yo son, kid was a terror and they used me as the babysitter. Fing chips and chocolate from one end of the 24’ boat, half eaten sandwich on floor. Praised God when I heard “let’s call it”.

Brings up a pretty good topic and one that I have had before. I started guiding full time in 1997. I was lucky and my service was pretty much a instant success. I was getting out more or less everyday right off the bat.
Doing so many trips, it was fun watching the "snacks/lunch" trend change over the years. Its amazing how things changed and how consistent it was from group to group.
When I first started, there was not a single person that got on my boat that didnt have packs of peanut butter crackers / Cheese Crackers. That was the main thing people brought. After a while, that trend changed over to Nuts/trail mix. "(My favorite snacks). After that, the Uncrustables were the craze. Guys would bring huge boxes of those things and just eat them all day. Im talking the 20 pack. LOL. It was crazy how popular those things were. I would say later in my time in Georgia, the trend changed to jerky. That was the big things in the late 2010's.
So many energy drinks. It was hard to believe how many people were downing energy drinks all day long on the boat. Those little 5 hour shots were popular for a short time but the drinks were popular for a long time.
And I was also surprised how many people still smoke. And I still am.

I've got one on the flip side. 4 of us went out on an offshore charter out of Mexico beach. We are all experienced fisherman, so likely the easiest crew they would normally take out.
Trip was booked for 8 hours on his 35ish foot center console. We get to the dock and he's in a 24 foot boat, said his was broke down. Ok whatever, we load up our coolers and hop in.
Got us on some fish early, only one crew member that was violently hungover but was trying to work hard. They found out we had beer, so captain and mate started drinking with us. Dodging storms running from spot to spot, captains full blown redneck came out, cussing up a storm, if it hit the deck it went into the box. They threw out anything that wasn't legal on the ride back in, trip lasted 4 hours instead of 8.
It was quite the experience, we had a good time but it all was very odd. Felt like we went out with some random redneck instead of a charter captain.

Then what do you throw in the water to make a slick so that the guy who pulled up and cut off your drift stays on the spot thinking the fish are hitting?
Bread to get the birds diving

Not a fishing captain, but a waterfowl guide.
“You think we’re gonna kill em here?”
Nah I just wanna sit my old arse in this field all day for nothin.

I agree on no liquor. Beer is acceptable.
Marathon. No sprints.

A guide I fished with a couple times told me that a guy on his charter once asked him if he could have another cork. My friend asked him why. He replied “ My cork is broken. It keeps going under”.

Dang bro! That's rough. I've seen some guides charge higher rate for kids on board.
If I wasn't poor I'd hire you for a trip one day to gain some knowledge. Big Lake is tough.
We did get on the trout ok in LC the last week while down there for New Years. Winter fishing is easy when there's not much rain. That hasn't changed as much in the last 15 years.
