You have your answers in previous posts. I know most everyone on this site fishes saltwater or for bass, but man hooking in to monster blues is my favorite. Guys like Chad Ferguson and Daniel Armstrong are killing it on Texoma and it's getting very popular around here for trophy blues.

Cut up hot dogs, place in ziplock, sprinkle in garlic powder! Let sit in sun for hour or two. Get a bigger boat. Wear gloves because that smell is hard to get off your hands.

I use chunks of beef heart that has been marinated in garlic power. Use them on 8/0 circle hook juglines for big blues. Work fine and they stay on the hook overnight in high current areas.

Gotta be the red ones. There's something about that extra Red 40 that makes them irresistible

Also try some ivory soap

Zote bar soap also works in a pinch. It’s Mexican laundry soap

Used everything from cut stew meat, hot dogs, worms, cut bait (usually bream), Zoat soap. My best luck is with cut bait. Stew meat works well too.

live bream.

I didn't fully understand how much catfish love live bluegill/bream until my friend's catfish pond got stocked with bluegill, and they kept the bluegill in a fish pen so they could grow bigger before getting eaten. Or, that was the plan.

All the catfish tore up the pen like a great white shark and ate every damn one of them.

Totally depends on each body of water and the water quality

My paw paw used to put a piece of that square cheese on a hook. You know the little pack of it that has about 1 x 1 cubes. The blue cats loved it.
For flatheads, gotta be live bait. 2-3” break were best

Best trot line bait is eel, whoever says different never used eel. However, its also one of the hardest baits to get.

Nah, best trot line bait I’ve used is deer liver. It’s not like Chicken , it’s tough, have to pretty much cut it, or pull it off the hooks. Just cut it up in small cubes after you kill a deer, and freeze it till it warms up( may and June are really good months, here. Incredible drawing power and highest counts I’ve ever had on my lines….

You can nuke it in the microwave until almost burnt. Makes it tougher and will stay on the hook better.

Might want to do this when the wife is away.

Do you just cut hunks off of it and bait or do you melt it down and mold it? I remember somebody telling me they melted it down and mixed dog food in to it.

We used Ivory when I was a kid IIRC.

Dad would just cut into little squares.

Live bait for flatheads. If you can find 3"-5" small live carp (buffalo) that's a good one for (flat head, yellow cat, spotted cat).
same size goldfish will work also.

Eel as mentioned is great but the only time I've caught them was on live bait in the river. cut them up and put in freezer.

I don't fish much for blue cat, but cutbait would be best, IMO.
