Y'all are getting off track here. This decision doesn't say anyone owns Little River. It says that Catahoula isn't a lake, so the rules of river apply. The river floods private lands when it leaves its banks.

Only if the control structure is left in place which the state does own. That's another question in all this...... if the state pulls out, do they take the control structure with them basically turning it back into a river full time?

The Crooks are aptly named, tarred, feathered, ridden out on a rail

Curious, when were the control structures made and what the landowners’ actions were then?

They only wanted to own it after there were oil and gas revenue. Before that, they were happy for the state to maintain it.

Didn’t it flood and stay flooded most years before the structure was built?

If the state quits messing with the water levels it may bring back the chufa grass. Of course, you won't be able to hunt it, but......

so you recommend not falling for one of these guided Catahoula Lake hunts? I see honey break experience on TV and posting on LA Sportsman Classifides of hunts out there

Absolutely book you a hunt. When you do let me know how much you paid, I’ll take you for half price.

There’s no way in hell I’d pay to hunt the lake. 90% chance you’ll get a limit of bull ducks, canvasbacks, & maybe a few teal.

They have blinds on Catahoula and also some that are right next to the Delta Plantation. They aren’t hurting for spots to hunt.

Something else I’ve wondered: It’s legal to guide on public land in LA? Or it’s only illegal on WMA’s?

Delta Plantation.

The hunting there is also not what it once was. We leased a blind on the Delta until “Honey Brake” came along and they stopped guaranteeing water.

So while they aren’t hurting for spots to hunt, there hunting is not worth the price of admission.
