We just have to call customs prior to arrival. Generally about 8 hours prior to arrival in port.
Always subject to being stopped but never have been
Learned never ever leave Mexico with anything that says made in Mexico. Cost about $300 per pound to have it disposed of in US

There's a boat owner/captain in Kona who's son brought his fishing boat from Los Angeles to Hawaii!
They loaded down with drums of extra fuel and basically went trolling speed. Talk about having a set of balls (or being dumb). There is a large area out there you reach where you are out of the range of any helicopter. When you are in that zone, you are completely on your own to deal with breakdowns, injuries, etc. No man's land basically and you are there for days.
They did NO fishing or activities of any kind. They could not risk injury or accident.
My interest is peaked again because I have forgotten the exact # of days they the journey took. I want to say 10.
They son told me NEVER again LOL.
The reason one would do that is save the LARGE cost of setting your boat on a boat and have it shipped. It takes months to schedule and costs many tens of thousands, depending on the boat size ect.

We got a long way to go and a short time to get there.
I suggest Cuba instead.

Yeah you wanna make a jump as long as to Hawaii, you're way better off in a sailboat.

I know someone who brings there boat from Costa Rica to Orange Beach yearly. Runs panama canal and then straight shot across the gulf. This is also a 60-70' sport fish. I really want to make a trip like that one day.

Quite a few just made the trip from down their to OB. I'd like to think it would be a nice booze cruise, but I can see where a little problem could be a huge pain in the arse.

I knew the big ones could make it, but a lot of those guys have mother ships for the 70'+ custom sportfishers.

That sounds like a badass thing to do. Once.

Industrial construction pays well in the gulf south.

Any info on that boat, she must hold a ton of fuel. I wonder where the fuel stops will be...

Probably one of the Chouest's boats. I googled their sport fishers the other day when this thread was going on.
