Anyone with knowledge please do assist.
I know some with zero will too and thats ok as I will sift thru them all.
As a young adult my grandparents did this for the Army Corp of Engineers. They have been passed for many years and i look back and see how much joy it brought them.
I am looking to retire within next year.
No wife.
Grown kids.
Grandkids.
Curious if yall know anyone who knows the ropes on traveling via RV and being campground ambassadors and making a small wage for doing day work in campground type upkeep.

Any input is well appreciated.

I looked into being an Ambassador many years ago. I’m pretty sure you still have to apply for an ambassador. Each is different and requirements are different. They do a background check. What kind of rv. Availability. Location interests. I know some locales are highly competitive. I think now you can apply at their respective websites.
I met a lot of ambassadors and all have been great people.
Good luck. I know you will enjoy it.

I spoke with a volunteer ranger at a national park last week. They change parks every season. They applied to live/work at Brooks Falls (Alaska, where the bears catch the salmon at the waterfalls). 2800 applications for 6 spots.

From others I have spoken with, the application process is long.

Years ago, my parents (now both deceased) worked as volunteers one summer in Badlands National Park in SD. My mom worked in the visitors center and my dad worked at what he described as a “wildlife outpost.” They loved it. No pay, but they got free hookups for their RV. Go to the Badlands website for volunteer opportunities.

My parents do something similar, like a work-exchange program. They visit the Florida state parks and stay at each one for a month at a time when they go. The “work”cleaning up campsites and bathrooms for a few hours each week in exchange for a free spot. They’ve been in Florida for the past two and a half months doing this and have done a few states out west as well.

My neighbor worked as a volunteer at some NWR’s in exchange for free lodging. He would cut the little bit of grass, keep pamphlets stocked, empty trash cans and clean bathrooms and make an inventory list weekly of supplies. Worked from AZ to FL doing a few months at each location over 2.5 years. He loved it.

I don't know if it's the same thing, but my parents looked into being Hosts, including ACE campsites. They've befriended a few and basically, it's a giant pain in the arse since COVID/work from home. The Hosts have to deal with non stop complaints and many people these days use the campsites as their primary residence (homeless). It has brought out the trashy and druggies to campgrounds.

What my parents have noticed, is that many of the Hosts from 5 years ago, now no longer Host. However they now run some kind of mobile RV repair business and there is enough market to work as much or as little as they want.

This has been quiet an eventful journey just collecting information.

There is a whole new world out there I never really knew existed beyond my grandparents doing this on amd off for a few years and me being able to go for a few weeks during the summer.
This was ~35yrs ago and I still smell the fish my pappaw would fry for camp guests every friday night.

God has a plan for us all and I pray he allows me to take on this endeavor.

Being a police officer I will say that people never fail to suprise me.

Always a small percentage that ruin everything for those of us whom try to do the right thing and take care of those around us.
