Save yourself some trouble and just get an AirBnB at the places you want to go.

We bought one a year ago and use it tons running around with the kids to sporting events on the weekend. We spend 80 bucks a weekend on camper slips vs 300 on a hotel. Plus my kids are age 6 and 8 so they love staying at a campground vs a hotel. Way more to do. The one we bought has double bunks so they have friends stay with us. We love it.

I've only been to two campgrounds that were really appealing. One on the north shore of Lake Superior at Black Beach adjacent to Silver Bay. One in Seward Alaska fronting on Resurrection Bay. Most folks were laid back looking to have some cold ones and cook meat/fish over open fire. The rest of 'em can get a bit loud.

Indian Creek in Alex used to be nice to me.....now when I drive thru it I see nothing but golf carts and teens driving em staring at their phones. Looks like living hell. I dont understand it, but it seems golf carts are a must have when you go nowadays.

You have to use it. Buying a VW camper van was the best thing I ever did, for the two summers we lived in it. And I should have sold it right after.

Generally speaking most do not get used enough to justify the costs.

Buy a used one if you buy one and see if you use it regularly. If you do upgrade. If like most people you find it sits in the yard 50 weeks of the year probably not worth the expense.

This is only a question a person can answer them self IMO.
There are so many things to consider but it really boils down to how often do you see yourself using it & current personal financial situation?

When the kids were younger we had a 5th and camped often. Weekend runs to state parks. Loved Buccaneer in Waveland, MS. Did Destin for a week. Really enjoyed it and then they became teenagers, dance, travel ball etc. so we sold it. I currently own a 31ft Flagstaff Ultralite that I bought used about 6 yrs ago. It stays on Grand Isle under my cover. I don’t miss the set up and take down that was necessary every trip. I only pull now when a storm makes me. U wouldn’t go back to weekend trips ever again, but that’s just me. Towing, setup, take down, shite dumping....

If I had it all to do over, I would see if I could find a stainless teardrop camper, and call it good.

We rented for the first time for Memorial Day. We're hooked. I have another reservation on the books in a couple weeks. We absolutely love it.

No frickiing way I would buy one of those pieces of shite.
