Ya I'd been told my 12 round magazine in my 9mm is illegal in some places. Luckily I live in Texas, I'm not the only guy on my block without multiple AR's

There are no pistols in production of any make or model that are legal for addition to the California Safe Handgun Roster.

All pistols currently on the roster are Grandfathered.

New pistols will need the following features:
1) Magazine Safety
2) Loaded Chamber Indicator
3) Micro stamped brass cases in no less than two places on the case.

Depends on how this country votes.

quote:

On May 17, 2013, California Attorney General Kamala Harris announced that micro-stamping had cleared all technological and patenting hurdles and would be required on newly sold semiautomatics, effective immediately. However, handguns already approved for sale but lacking this technology may still be sold as long as they remain on the Roster of Not Unsafe Handguns

SB 452 will make it easier to solve gun crimes, as bullet casings will be traced to individual guns

SACRAMENTO – Gov. Gavin Newsom on Tuesday signed legislation by Sen. Catherine Blakespear, D-Encinitas, to require all semiautomatic pistols sold in California to use microstamping technology.

With microstamping, the handguns will etch unique identifiers on expended cartridges, providing law enforcement with valuable information to help identify shooters. Blakespear joined Newsom, other legislators and gun safety advocates at a Capitol press conference to celebrate the signing.

i knew the limited capacity magazines was one thing, but all single stack .45 1911s should fit that bill anyway, just wasnt sure what else it might entitle that is limiting/unnecessary.

Wouldn't want the mag safety and don't know enough about the micro etching feature to know how easy replacing a firing pin is.

The short answer to your situation is NO.

California has a handgun roster that list pistols that are "safe" to sale in California. So a pistol labeled as "CA Compliant" means it is on the California Handgun Roster.

As stated above if a semi-auto pistol does not have micro stamping it cannot make the CA roster.

I think the requirements got laxed recently as some new semi-auto handguns have been approved to the CA Handgun Roster.

This is outdated. In March 2023, a judge preliminarily enjoined the provisions of this Act. The State of California immediately filed an appeal of that Order, but did not seek to stop the injunction against the microstamping requirement. CA only asked for the Ninth Circuit to extend the stay as to the other two provisions. So, microstamping is not currently a requirement to get a pistol on the roster of handguns that can be sold in California.

Because of this, California has been forced to add new (non-grandfathered) handguns to its roster: LINK
