My ‘15 Ram Ecodiesel has been in the shop 3 out the last 4 months. I miss my old 2000 Chevy and it’s dependability.

Looking for an older Chevy or Ford, I’ve read to stay away from 07-08 chevys and the 5.4 ford engines but was just curious of y’alls experiences.

Looking to invest in an older truck but not a bottomless pit...thanks

I'd go after a mid 2010s Chevy or Ford

There were oil issues, but mine never had them.

Did you have any issues with your brakes or transmission?

Yea, my son has an ‘07 and other than being a gas guzzler, it’s been very dependable.

Just buy an old tundra. Looks just like a new one and is typical Toyota

And made in Texas as opposed to GM which most older ones were made in Mexico.

I loved them when they first came out then the movie, "Twister" made that accelerate.

ALL Ford 5.4L are timebombs. Don't waste money

07-09 Chevy/GMC have trans slips and head oil leak issues.

2011 Chevy/GMC has V8 timing issues

2015-2016 fords where all body is aluminum (suck)

Good luck!

If you are going from Diesel to gas and need towing capabilities...Its hard to beat the 5.7L in Dodge or Tundra.

I have an 06 Sierra. 5.3L V8. It’s been a great truck. 170k miles. I changed the starter for the first time last week. If it was 4x4 I would keep it forever.

I was looking the other day at a new tacoma. For the same price I can get a fully decked out tundra platinum 4x4 with 30k miles on it.

I got rid of newer model F150 for a low mileage (70K) well maintained 06 V8 1st Gen Tundra Limited Crew Cab my dad bought new. Installed a touchscreen radio with backup camera and car play for $300 and it's more high tech than a 2020 Tundra
