I figured. No trailer brakes on the Nitro... It's 17.5 ft. Never had any issues before though, and I won't be going far. 20 miles tops.

Ford is the best truck on the market right now

Sorry to seem argumentative but this is just in your opinion.

I have the Tundra Platinum. I'm not going to say it is hands down the best truck out there because like shotguns, most good manufacturers make great guns right now.

I will say that I had a GMC Yukon and GMC Yukon XL before I got my Tundra. I loved them, but when it was time to buy new the dealerships wouldn't deal at all and I really didn't want to buy a car from a company owned by the government, especially the way the bankruptcy went down.

My Tundra is made in TX (I think it was mentioned that TX is "truck country"). Both my GMC's were made in Mexico.

I love the love of the Tundra and I love the interior as well. It has the biggest cab of the Ford, Dodge, and Chevy. The back seat reclines quite a bit and the kids love that. Mine also has heated and cooled front seats which are more than awesome.

The Tundra also puts out 384hp and over 400 ft lbs of torque.

I understand and agree with your point in saying that your Tundra is American. It was built here and employed American workers. However, my F150 was built in Michigan by Americans and the profits stayed in America.

I also don't think you are comparing apples to apples. Your Platinum Tundra is not a typical Tundra. Neither is my F150 Platinum. While I did love the power and exterior of the Tundra, the interior had me scratching my head. It was just not laid out in in an appealing way to me.

I do not know the exact specs of the Tundra Platinum but I imagine that the interior comfort features are almost identical to my truck. I chose the F-150 because of the interior, smooth ride, and 425 hp. I felt that the Tundra fell short in those 3 categories.

I have my own ideas on how the big 3 could drastically improve fuel economy, but neither the public nor the EPA would ever buy into it.

I just bought my second F150 off-road 4x4 supercrew, a 2011 with the ecoboost.
I still have my '01 F150 o-r 4x4 (anyone Lookin for a good truck?).
The '01 has 265K miles and runs great. I had to get another F150 based on how good the first one was to me.
This 2011 model is awesome. Bigger and wider interior. Hell, almost too big - cant reach stuff like in the '01.
The ecoboost gets my praises so far. When I press down on the pedal, at any speed, the truck gets up and moves.
I've been getting over 18mpg and got 20.1mpg doing 75 on the interstate from Houston to BR.
Main thing I'm having to get used to is being in a truck that looks so "pretty" in and out.

I have a brand new GMC sierra 4 door and love it! Drives great has plenty of room and a ton of power, but I got the 6.2 liter instead of 5.3 or 4.8. My buddy has a 5.3 gmc sierra just like mine and loves his too.

IMO if you don't have a need for heavy towing/hauling then a Tacoma double cab is the way to go. You'll get better gas mileage, better reliability, more offroad capability, and a higher resale value with the Tacoma than pretty much any full size truck. I just traded an 07 4x4 that I bought new for a 2012. The 07 had 80,000 miles on it and I got right at 20,000 in trade for a truck that I paid 28,000 for new.

That's a good point, but I couldn't go to a Tacoma after driving a full sized truck. I test drove one before getting my F150. It was an extended can Tacoma, and I ended up getting a single cab f150 and I seriously have more cab space. Or at least useable cab space.

Volt, that sounds like a beautiful truck. I am glad that you are getting the mileage that you are. They (Ecoboost) seem to be pretty hit or miss when it comes to the mileage. However, even with the ones that are getting poor mileage are on par with my mpg. I truly hope the motor works out for Ford. It will be a game changer.

You are absolutely right about the size. Its huge compared to my previous trucks and obviously my jeep that I traded in on the truck. If something falls on the passenger floorboard or is on the backseat, it's staying there till I can get out to get it.

Only thing is I love my truck too much. I was scared to take it down some of our roads (trails) at the camp in fear of scratching it. Hopefully by next season I'll be over that

Oh and just a FYI for everyone with a newer F150, there is a computer update regarding harsh up shifts from the transmission. I got mine done last month even though I did not have a problem, just didn't want to develop one.

Say what? Just bring it in to the dealership and they'll take care of it?

shite! Looks like I'm late to the truck thread...as usual.

The 2013 Rams are going to be

I drive a 2011 Ram, 0 issues and I'm at 26,000 miles...it's a great truck. Plenty of power, nice interior, incredible ride quality, and the mpgs aren't bad either. I can average near 20mpg going from BR to Houma.

Here's some info on the new Rams, seriously, check it out...they're sweet. They have a reworked interior, optional 8-speed trans, optional self leveling air ride suspension, 8.4" Touchscreen, 6-7" color screen in the gauge cluster, and loads of other 1st in class items (like grill shutters and stop/start technology).

I'm on my second and we have 4 in our family currently. One with around 110,000 miles...maintained horribly bc it's my dads Durango lol. No issues though. Shoot me an email if you'd like, I can tell you pretty much anything you want to know about them.

I suppose. Only thing I don't like about the 8-speed it that they are going to pair it with a turn-dial shifter instead of an actual column/console shifter. They are saying it'll get 20% better mpgs in the Hemi trucks though.

Nah, I edited and added it when I saw Downshift's comment. He know's I'm a Dodge fan-boy, how dare he say he doesn't know anyone with a new Hemi!

I was wondering where the shifter was on the pic you posted. Is the back seat going to be bigger? That's one of my complaints about the Dodge crew cab

I want nothing to do with any of that fancy bullshite.

I want the most basic interior I can get that comes with AC and radio.

Nobody builds the exact truck I want anymore.

Not sure, but I doubt it. I have a crew cab and think it's plenty big enough. I'm almost 99% sure that the Ram CC is bigger than Chevy/GM CC. Ford and Toyota probably have the biggest though.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know

See the Ram 1500 Tradesman HD...it's close to your kind of truck. Sans for the solid front axle and 4x4 But they do offer ST (basic) 2500's...real bare bones and you can get (pretty sure) a solid front axle, manual cog-swapper, and 4.10 gears...probably have to custom order it though. Or buy an older model from Wilflife and Fisheries or something.
