I shoot light loads all the time in mine with no issues. Never had an issue after thousands of rounds. Not one in the SX3.

OP is asking for a duck gun...doubt he's wanting to shoot 7/8 trap loads. I use 1-1/8 dove loads in my Maxus with no problems, it has a similar-ish gas system to the SX4. 7/8 trap loads get me a FTE about 1 in 10 times, but that gas system is gonna be nice when you're shooting 3-1/2" loads in goose season.

I’ve had the SBEII since 2005 and I’ve never thought about buying a new gun.

Wanna save a few $ and get a gun you can beat and not clean??? Find an older Browning A-5 Stalker. Got one for 26 years, Shoot the shite out of it, wipe it down, and that’s about it. Before the season I shoot a lil oil in some of the moving parts. That’s it. Never jams, kicks a lil harder than a gas gun, but it don’t quit.

I have had a SBE H&K, a Beretta A300, and a Stoeger M3500. All have been perfect guns. Bought the SBE3 and sold it. Not a fan, didn’t balance well for me. Was awkward. I’m short armed not the gun for me. Tried the SX3 from family in the blind also not a fan and it broke on him the third outing and he sold it

That is what I shoot. Will still be knocking down ducks when many modern shotguns have been scrapped. One of my Auto 5's will be with me Saturday morning for the opener, God willing.

Definitely don't need 3.5" do duck/goose hunt. Only reason i got a SBE II is I turkey hunt and I want one gun to hunt everything.

The old A5 would have to be the best duck gun of all time. Still shoot one from time to time and its a canon.

Have you looked at the Benelli M2 American? Cabela's has them in Shadowgrass or Bottomland for about $1,000.

I have a 870 express that’s over 30 years old. It has killed ducks, deer, Turkey, squirrels, quail, and snakes. It has been used as a boat paddle, a club, and once as a makeshift hammer. After thousands of rounds all that has been replaced is the extractor, and a stock after it cracked finishing off a turkey I ran out of shells trying to kill. Absolutely no complaints.
