This is business. Leave the emotion out of it or you will end up with a $400 hot check.

Ask and sell are two totally different things, he will sell half or less at full ask and eat or fire sell the balance. He has zero clue how little money there is in selling $1,000 puppies. He also doesn’t understand pick of litter and that alone would make me walk. Is he set up to welp inside, ens, tend to puppies almost 24 hrs/day? Your dog may be the second coming but only pet/hunting homes will be buyers. Very little upside to this potential breeding imo.

So, does this dog have anything other than a pedigree? What about yours?

I can promise you that selective breeding of health certified dogs is not how we got to the overpopulation of dogs.
So kindly piss off

Just tell him you planned on making money out of this deal, not drop another $300. Simple

People wanting designer variations is why there are too many labs.

Show labs
Field labs (like mine)
Block head
Pocket labs
Silver
Red
White

Labs are sporting retrievers by nature. Breeding them for any other characteristics other than temperament, drive, and intelligence is misguided.

I’m sure you have a wonderful dog , but reality is the market isn’t close to $1000 a puppy for what he will be offering.

Yea gonna just call his bluff and if he don't like it he can go find another stud. I'll take my chances.

Also I'm not bragging on my dog here there probably a thousand others that are better hunting dogs and better pedigrees.

Now how do you know what the market for registered labs is in North Carolina?

I just laugh at people spending 1500-2k$+ on a lab.
My $800 lab will run circles around any of these crazy expensive labs and is without a doubt a better house to field dog than any.
Buddy bought a $3k red lab that was 2yrs old and “trained”
Apparently the trainer didn’t relay the commands to my friend/new owner. This dog may be trained but you can’t convince me.

There have been some great $800 dogs. But for the most part you are wrong.

Don’t doubt you have a nice dog or there are better out there but your guy picked you because of price not what you bring to the table. It’s the financial benefit he is looking for almost exclusively. How much are You charging him to board and feed his dog during the three breedings at Your House? Yep, don’t even think about going to him.

Anybody willing to pay $1000 would have a bigger market than just North Carolina.
“Registered “ huh? This whole time we were talking bout registered dogs?

Yea up here in NC if he is doing it right he will have every lab spoken for within two weeks of birth at $1000. I got my lab as mu graduation present and he was 700. Best $700 my dad ever paid. Its insane what rich folks here will pay for a pure blood lab with papers!!!
