Archery hunting requires you to be a hunter. Sign reading and attention to detail are key. Also, the freezer can be filled. We were on DMAP and I killed 9 during the archery season one year.

Not necessarily. Putting out a bag of corn and setting up over it doesn't really require much sign reading and attention to detail. Finding deer sign, setting up on it, and having it all work out is what it's about

I swear nothing personal, but, if you need to ask answers to these few questions, you're not ready for a bow, and might not ever be.

does meat taste better?
To me it does. I know I worked hard for the animal and I did what many can't.

How does it handle broadheads? The pro at my local bow shop says he has one that'll probably get me through a years worth of use.

with today's technology, most BH's fly the same or very close to field points. Once your bow sight is fine tuned and adjusted for BH's, why do you continue to shoot them ? Wouldn't it be smarter to shoot FP's 80 times a day and only shoot BH's when double checking your sight yardage tape before a hunt ?

8 yr old Blob frequently shot at an archery club

10 yr old blob obviously shot with broadheads

I shot broadheads at it because I got some new fixed blade broadheads, as stated. I haven't shot a rage in a target in years, but hadn't ever shot fixed blades since I got my Pearson and needed to see how they flew.

Looks like I need to get a blob, btw...

I don't shoot bucks unless they are mature, so I may go several seasons without killing a buck. I usually take 4-5 does a year for meat. Honestly, I had just gotten to where there was no thrill in shooting a doe 150 yards away with a rifle. But when you have to get them in close, get drawn back without getting busted, and put that arrow in just the right place, that's enough to get the adrenaline pumping, even with a doe.

I said this in an earlier thread but I had a block, 4 or 5 sided, and I shot at it for the better part of 5 years, back when I was shooting heavy. I got some new broad heads and after that I started shooting through the target. I have a Rinehart now, and I'm sure it will last but it's a pain to get the arrows out, I'd rather shoot at a bag.
