They used to be free with purchase of a $1000 minn Kota tm

They are very badass and they are accurate. Worth $100? Not to me, but I'm poor.

I've got a gift card to Academy, and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one. I can already hear MrsDev "What's wrong with the scale you have?"

She just doesn't understand.

Have had mine for 2 years.
I fricking love it.
Anything you weigh on that bad boy, nobody will doubt as to if the scale is accurate.
Makes fish telling stories much more difficult.

Make sure you get the float for it too.

Why should she even know what kind of scale you have?

I have the 30lbs Boga. I love it.

Extremely accurate and helps to get a fish under control.

30lbs Boga
I couldn't find any reason to not get the 15# model with all the inshore fishing I do.
Is the 30# model much bigger/heavier?

I highly doubt it.

All they would change would be the "spring" or whatever the hell is inside the thing

Since I mostly bass fish, I would do fine with the 15 lb. scale, but it would kill me to bottom it out and not know how much more than 15 a fish weighed. I think I'll get the 30 lb. scale.

Cabelas once sold a "Grip and Weigh" manufactured by E-Tackle, which also sold the same product under the name "Kona Grip". This was rated equal to the Bogagrip, but for about 1/3 the price. I have the 15-pound model and it has precision to 1/4 ounce and accuracy to the same. Smaller, lighter, and as mentioned, less expensive. E-Tackle no longer makes this grip, but someone I know is trying to buy the patent.
