Im just going to say that everyone should wait and see what happened. Looking at that guys boat, it looks like it was hit from behind.

Article I read says the bass boat ran into/over a center console and killed the 3 onboard the center console.

Going fast in a boat with no vision is super dangerous and stupid.

That being said local news has released names of all 3 and is reporting all 3 were on a center console that was hit by the Bass boat in the tournament.

So the guy, Flint Davis, who was driving the bass boat was not killed? man I saw earlier today where someone said he was.

Wouldn’t the guide be just as guilty for taking clients out in the fog with limited visibility? Plus I'm sure the guide knew there was a major tournament going on also.

I’m not taking up for guy driving the bass boat but let’s not just blame him while the guide was doing same thing, traveling in fog on the water with limited visibility.

I just read the article you mentioned. Yep, all from the guide boat.

Sad.

It’s a fair consideration but if the initial investigation is accurate and the pro was wide open in limited visibility it’s going to be tough to lay negligence somewhere else.

Fog is far more dangerous than dark. I hate it.

A lot of variables there, when I used to fish a lot if it was a foggy morning we would still put in and fish. We would trolling motor only it and fish near the launch.

That’s what both parties shoulda done.

Anyone know if the guide was running or actually fishing?

To my knowledge nobody has stated either way if the striper boat (CC) was underway.
It’s typical for those guys to be trolling baits at ultra slow speeds (< 5mph). If that was the case it’s unfortunately all on Flint more than likely.

Just a bad deal all the way around. :(

I’ll respectively disagree with you on this.

In low visibility conditions where it’s known to be a high traffic day due to a fishing tournament (spectator boats, camera boats, and the actual anglers themselves along with locals) seems the guide was a sitting duck if this is the case.

Reports from other sites are it was not low visibility. Sounds like Davis cut a corner behind an island and ran across guide boat. Tifwiw, just a tragic situation for all involved.

Think you’re right with this info, just listened to a piece from David Kilgore and he’s saying guide boat was in a bad spot, possibly a curve which in my opinion is just as bad.

Truly tragic for all involved. My heart goes out to the deceased families and for the bass boat driver.

For some reason you really seem to want to place the blame on the guide boat rather than the dude running wide open.

Speed is probably 100% the leading cause of this wreck but fishing in a blind curve is dumb in my opinion. Also I'm getting the curve info from an angler who fished the tournament and seen guide boat in that area in a curve and knew exactly where wreck happened once he heard news.

I know of a guy who died basically doing same thing. Fishing in a curve and a boat not knowing he was there struck his boat and killed him.

There's absolutely no excuse for running over a stationary or slow moving boat with your bass boat. He was probably running wide open and that's just stupid going around a curve.

This will haunt Davis the rest of his life.

There’s a higher chance of someone running up on you in a curve than if you are in a straight bayou.

Why do you think on highways it’s a double yellow lane in a curve? Cause you have no idea what’s coming infront of you.

Supposedly there’s video out there from another angler so we’ll see how this all plays out. I’m not a fan of everyone just assuming the fella in the bass boat is 100% at fault or bass tournaments are a danger to society. I’d argue that tournament anglers are more in tune with their boats and how to drive more so than the weekend warrior who fishes 4 times a year out of a John boat with a 40hp. Accidents happen whether on land or on water everyday.
