I think this is the species of you kill one you can often call the group back in and kill more and more. Beautiful ducks just not real bright.

I wish they were here in the fall. I usually bring my duck call when I kayak fish Reggio in spring and summer just for the mexican squealers. Have called them in to where they're circling my big yellow PA. Dumb as rocks.

First split is your best bet. Once a front or two comes in they head south.

There must be some discussion about possibly letting hunters take 1 or 2 during teal season. I got a survey from the LDWF and one question specifically asked if you would be in favor of harvesting 1 or 2 tree ducks while teal season is open. That was a pretty dumb question to ask a South LA duck hunter! Ha Ha. Closest I came to killing one was 2018 first split opener. I actually took a shot at a pair but I was loaded with my typical light loads since we only get teal on my Delacroix lease. I threw 2 shots at them maybe 40 yards; no feathers cut! ha ha.

I dont understand why I couldnt shoot a couple right now assuming they taste good. The damn things are everywhere. I could kill 2 dozen every evening at the house.

Encountered a flock during hunting season a couple years back, first one I ever harvested had a band!

Also mis-identified a large flock of 30-40 last year that was within range and elected to not shoot... still kicking myself for that.

Audubon Park used to be covered up with these ducks, but they didn't show up this year. Where were these taken?

You can’t shoot migratory birds during nesting season is why.

As common as Muscovy ducks in all the neighborhood ponds lately.

I enjoy seeing them over the Muscovy ducks and love to hear them whistling as they fly over just before dark

Between these and the geese, there is some good eatin in the neighborhoods.
