As major says, that is a Mississippi kite. I live on a reservoir and I see quite a few of them cruising around. Square tail and pointy wings when flying. They mostly eat large insects like dragonflies and cicadas.

Yep, Mississippi kite. Been watching a pair in Sallisaw, OK.
Very acrobatic.

Thanks. I have a bunch of hawks and owls, a few woodpeckers and the normal other stuff, but I didn't know what that thing was just making laps over one of my fields then perching in an old oak tree.

Those things are everywhere right now. We have several that hang around here.

A couple years ago I saw a dozen or more hunting a particular pasture. It was awesome.

Those are my favorite birds. Give yourself some time to actually spend time watching them it you can. One millisecond they are hovering on the breeze and the next they are a missile when they see something to eat. It is very entertaining if you are into nature

They perch in a tree in my yard and snag the green grasshoppers I kick up with the lawnmower. So cool to watch. I also see Swallow Tailed Kites on I55 around Ruddock.
