I started using them since the trip we caught 200 undersized trout and I got tired washing the slime off.
Works great ..fast one fast off...easy to clean
Especially good in winter to keep your hands dry..

TC...
It seems that the Southeast side of the lake is really turning on. Due to heavy rain, the northern portion of the lake isn't holding big trout on a regular basis just yet. The shrimp are definitely in the lake though. I caught 20 nice sized shrimp in three casts from Hebert's Marina about a week ago.
The birds are hanging around a reef called Chenier, on the Southeast side of the lake. For topwater, use live shrimp under a cork. For plastics, use a Margarita or Chicken on a Chain Sand Eel.
GPS Hot Spots
Personally, I would fish Cross Reef, the flats of Long Point [might hold some birds], the Old Jetties, and the 5th Weir.
If all else fails, fish the birds if they are diving heavy and any area you find other clusters of boaters that you can respectfully enter.

My buddies caught today just south of the wellheads...phone cut out before if he told me east or west side...

I was going to go out there today but I got freaking fried on Thursday. Sunburn is so bad I can barely sleep.
I may head out to Calcasieu Point tomorrow though. I needed one more day to let this literally cool down.

Summer fishing is hit or miss in Big Lake...that's why I do most of my fishing Sept-Jan.
Were you using live shrimp?

Turner's is part of Big Lake...The parish divides in the lake?
Yep. The parish line is just south of the Intracoastal Waterway (Ellender Bridge). Turner's Bay is actually north of the Intracoastal.
I grew up about 4-5 miles just north of due west of there. I could see the LNG terminal from Mom/Dad's house.

One of us is confused here .
Turner's is in the north part of Big Lake just north of the well heads.
IntraCoastal passes north of that.
L&G is west of Turner's and the canal takes you to Turner's but you have to head south.
Am I confused here?

No. You are correct. The IC is east of main lake.

L&G is also east...I always get confused at CPL.
Weirs East
Hackberry West

You are. Look at a map. The parish line doesn't follow the IC waterway as it takes that hard angle to the north around the ship channel. It goes straight across. Thus Turner's Bay is North of the parish line. LNG is not North. You're talking about the new LNG terminal. I'm talking the old LNG terminal also called Devils Elbow.
