How is it? We get out of school Thursday. May be only baseball free weekend until July 4. Thinking of burning a trip with the kids.

Buddy caught a jack by the ice house a few weeks ago. But I know there's been some rain. And more rain coming.

Trying to decide if its worth a trip to put kids on fish, or shrimp.

Or if we stay home and knock out projects and chill.

Its been so damned windy this April and May. Blowing 25 again today. Not many spots to hide from that kind of wind around Big Lake. I've heard mixed reports, with some really good reports mixed in when the weather cooperates.

Yeah. Was seeing lots of good reports before the rain from way up north. Can avoid the wind up north and in hackberry.

Our camp is all the way up by Holbrook so hackberry is a journey!

You ain’t lyin, cancelled a trip for tomorrow because F’n wind.
Probably gusting to 30kts. Trout on reefs at south end of lake but bite is short and fickle. Birds picking but they’re like a lottree ticket, most have hardheads under them.
All the good news I have today.

I've heard good things. Gotta get out there to find out. If weather cooperates, a day on the water with no fish beats a day at home anyway.

While I agree- its a 4.5hr trip to the camp. And with 3 kids I hate to burn a trip to potentially just sit under the camp and cause liver damage!

Yeahh 4.5 hrs is a lil different than the 1.5 hrs im driving. Me and my buddies are going to get out there and just fish the open windows with no rain and hope for the best. You on a canal with easy access?

Our camp is on the river all the way up by Holbrook. So unless the fishing is hot around the barrier, LC, prien, we usually trailer down to Cal point, Ellender Bridge, or Spicers and launch there.

We decided against a trip this weekend. Mom said river way high and moving at camp so kids wouldn't even be able to swim.

Picked up another baseball tournament here in TX.

I'll be down soon. Good luck! Lots of rain in the forecast.

Nice. Guess we'll see what it looks like by the time I go on the 29th and 30th. Might end up having to crab/fish as far south as possible up to and including the beach.

Nothing wrong with a lil baseball!

We are heading down there for 7-10 days around July 4th finally!

Dying to get to the camp.

Hopefully these storm cells aren't too bad the next week.

Can't wait to catch some crabs, hopefully some fish, and maybe frogs. Need to look if its still open.

Caughtem in the marsh sat-sun, handful of nice flounder.
Buddy caught some jacks on the channel at joes Sunday & I had two skips in the marsh.
I’m ready to start fishing mullet on the channel, might even target some big trout. Shoot me an email TF before you come over.

Awesome! Thanks brother. I love fishing the marsh. I really love when they're up north haha!

Yeah I was seeing people catching Jack's on FB before all the rain. Never caught one. Sounds like a fun adventure once.

Fished Big Lake last Saturday. Had my line in the water at 6:45 but the trout bite was over in 30 minutes. Caught some smaller trout around the channel, then no specks for the rest of the day. Did land a nice flounder in the west cove later that day.

Double today, 7 reds this morning west Kelso. Should have had our fish but several pulled off.
4 reds afternoon up north, gusts to 30 so I am happy.

Man that's some serious wind. Hoping it finally starts dying down over the next week.

Kids and me are itching bad. Haven't made it down since March we have been so busy with sports.

My daughters All Star team keeps winning. Its like the episode of South Park- they win again i may have to take matters into my own hands like Randy Marsh!

Soooooo ready for a week on the water!

Hopefully the Lake starts cleaning up and gets a break from the rain.

Anybody castnetting any shrimp?

Hoping to put kids on fish.

I love to chase trout. But the Lake changes so much I get worse at it every year. Sometimes I get lucky and snag a few.

Isn't it about time to start making it out to the short rigs?

One of the best trips I have ever been on outside of fishing with you is when we beat up the Tripletail after beating up the trout out there.
