It quite simple but my way take a little longer. Cut everything out you can then stick it in a ant pile for a couple of days then into a bucket if what for a month or so. If you cant find a ant pile no problem just leave it in the water longer.

and throw in a ant pile

Yeah, you can send any skull off to some of the tanneries out west and up north for processing. They use a dermastid (sp?) beetle to eat off the flesh and you get the skull back all nice and clean. I bet fire ants would do the same thing if the possums and yotes didn't carry it off first...

I used to put mine in a squirrel or crawfish trap and put that in the ant pile.

The horns will get sun-bleached though.

That's why I said, in my first post, to wrap some cloth around the horns if you're gonna leave the skull out in the sun to bleach it out.

We tie it up to a cinder block at my parents house. They have a couple acres that is completely fenced and that tends to keep the animals away. My dad lost one years ago by putting it on the top of the shed (counting on maggots to do the work) and some bird carried it away.

That is why we use shoe polish. Turns out darker than normal but I prefer that look.
