Think I picked up a Romeo5 on sale for like $100+/- on sportsman guide. First one I got was at academy for 129. I like the shake wake feature. Saves on battery and whatnot. I have an astigmatism in both eyes, clearest dot I’ve had also.

Thanks! Will look into this one!

Do not skimp on optics. The Romeos will only hold up to so much recoil. If you plan on shooting a lot they will eventually break down. I say go with the EOtech or the Leupold Delta Point Pro. Both are under 500 bucks and will last longer. Nothing wrong with the Romeos except longevity.

I have a Vortex Strikefire. I like it.

Vortex has stepped up their game in the Red Dots and Scopes. I have a Vortex Venom on a Kimber 1911. Over ten thousand rounds and never had an issue.

Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money for a Trijicon MRO.

Get an Aimpoint Pro when they go on sale. Should be around $350. Best optic for the money and it's not even close. The MRO kinda sucks. It has a more blue tint and magnification. I used to like them until I spent more time shooting one and comparing it to my Aimpoint. It's just not as good.

Come on man.
If he’s going to be a competition shooter and blow down thousands of rounds on the reg, he’s not worried about the cost of a red dot. Just my 2¢.
2 on 556s and 1 on a 300 blk. All have seen decent amount of rounds and function well. They’ve exceeded my expectations for a budget red dot

Big fan of the swamp fox liberators. They make red or green dots and also have Red and Green reticle versions.

$300 is a weird place for red dots right now. I'd either up my budget a bit and get an MRO or Aimpoint Pro, or spend a lot less and get a Holosun/Primary Arms or similar.

You might be able to find a used Aimpoint for that. Otherwise the Vortex Strikefire 2 (roughly $200) or this from Primary Arms: LINK

Holosun either 507 or 510.
Swampfox is another option which is on par or better than Holosun.

I went back and forth between the Sig Romeo and the Vortex Crossfire. Both seemed like good quality for the price, but I went with the Vortex. I don't think you would go wrong with either...
